Atlanta discovers the Mini

In the last two weeks I have noticed Minis everywhere in Atlanta. It's like when Jack Russell Terriers got popular about 10 years ago. I no longer feel as exclusive but I am still special and unique "like everyone else."......

Are you all seeing this in other cities?

Living a small town of 40k, I don’t have the large sample that you do in Atlanta. One year ago, I might have been able to list 5 MINIs I had seen around town. Today I could probably catalog 15.

Don’t worry about not being different. When the revolution is complete, early adopters like you will be given the top positions in the new order.

A lot more MINI's to be seen here in Birmingham too and we don't even have a dealership!

Used to be that I knew all of the MINI's but now I don't recognize most of them. . .

The more MINI's I see, the happier I am!

The MINI population is growing here in Calgary (1 mil people) too. I think more and more people are discovering that a fun to drive car doesn't have to be expensive. In fact after buying a used 2003 MC 3 months ago, I was wondering to myself why people go for the usual run of the mill types when they could have a blast for their money with a MINI .

I also have noticed an explosion of the PT cruisers on the roads lately.. must be the employee discounts...

Where I live, I'm the only MINI in the whole county. Where I work, there's maybe a dozen in the whole town/area. A few I have only seen once or twice, and 4 that I know I'll see at least once a week. I don't know what it says about me, but I like that there aren't a lot around. I like people looking and talking to me at redlights.

In my town there are very few, but they are some choice ones. There is a SG/W, VR/B and a BRG/W. When I was trying to decide what kind of car I wanted to get I would see none. In fact, I still almost never see one driving to/from work... but everyone else says they see a few every day. I think it's just that they stick out so much no one can help but notice. I know we're not as far from the dealerships as some, but the closest is almost 40 miles. I think it may also have something to do with the gas crunch... a lot of people that wouldn't normaly be interested are doing more research and finding out what they've been missing!

LOL =) Ahh, he can rest easy now =)

I've noticed more Mini's here in Orlando lately. BUT! I think that's probably in very large part to me actually trying to keep my eye out for them now that I've got mine on order, and have been visiting this site like mad the last week or two =) Geez, it's definitely turning borderline obsessive for me, this Mini stuff =)

There's that new Chevy? HHR? SUV that looks a lot like the PT Crusier, so perhaps you're seeing a lot of those too. Or maybe you're just seeing a lot of PT Cruisers. =)

My "little" town of 300K people has it's own MINI dealership (Moritz), and I still see relatively few MINIs. I suppose it this has to do with the fact that we're right in the middle of the friggin' huge Dallas/Fort Worth megalopolis. I know they're sellin'em as fast as they can ship'em, but on a weekend it's still sometimes rare to see one single MINI around here. I do think I am seeing more and more SUVs though.

Definitely a lot more MINI's out there nowadays. Back in July I drove 5,100 miles in 11 days and only saw 24. Today during a 200 mile drive I saw five. Not necessarily a bad thing. If everyone drove MINI's the traffic jams wouldn't be near as bad in the mornings.

Shoot, down here in "podunk" LaGrange, (hour south of ATL) we have at least 15 Minis scootin' around town.

I think it's a nationwide phenomena....I've noticed the same in my small town as well. Didn't MINI sells went up 25% or so from last year?
On one hand I'm happy about it, it's good to see MINI get the credit it deserves. But I can't help thinking that a lot of new owners just buy it because it's cute or something. The other day I waved at a lady driving a MCS with almost identical colors, and she looked at me like I was crazy ......if they don't get it, they shouldn't buy it !
That's why I've always loved Ferrari's policy to self limit their yearly production.

Well, living in SoCal with about 10 dealerships within a 125-mile radius.....I see them all over the place! I still wave at everyone, too!

When I drove cross-country for my annual springtime roadtrip, once I got out of Cali, and until I got to Birmingham, AL, I didn't see another MINI!! Not a single one!! That's a long way to travel without seeing one!!

Tonight, driving back from a family party in La Jolla, we saw a Dark Silver/White MCS racing a motorcycle near Oceanside, weaving through moderately heavy traffic. The MCS was going over 100 mph and it scared us! Nuts to drive that fast through freeway traffic!!!mad:

Tons and tons of MINIs and even classic Minis here in Miami. I see around 60 MINIs a day on average

South Florida is the mecca of expensive/exotic cars. Ferraris, Astons, Maseratis, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Lamborghinis, are pretty much "everyday" cars down here. If you want to see nice rides, Miami is the place to be.

When your cheapest model starts at $100,000 plus, the self-limiting is pretty easy.

I recently drove to Jackson Missouri and saw a total of three MINI's and two of them were in SC. On the way back on I40 I did have a new 05 get behind me as we cruised down the interstate. That was pretty cool I lost him when we got into NC.

Georgia MINIs

It's about time the Atlanta area caught up with the rest of the state of Georgia for MINIs per capita! We are bursting at the seams in the Savannah area!

The MINI's seem to be popping up everywhere around here. Some may get it just because of the fuel prices, some because of what the MINI is. Either way, it makes for a nicer looking drive to work everyday. My MA said they sold 80% of their inventory Labor day weekend. I know of one person in our club that just picked his up and my wife works at a credit union and her friends always come to tell her when they do a loan for a MINI. It's been quiet frequent lately. For having a dealership 100 miles away, we're not doing too bad up here. We have roughly 30 members, as e-mail shows, and we are constantly stalking......err....looking for new MINI's to join us.
