Most Indestructible MINI

Is it yours? I doubt it because it’s mine.

I’m so tired of reading all these whinny threads about a rattle here or little problem there. Lay it on me! I want to read nothing but glowing remarks about how your MINI is the most reliable, most trouble free and indestructible MINI out there.

I’ll not post about my Aug 02 MCS yet because I want to read a few posts to see how long it takes people to start whining about something wrong with their indestructible MINI. Take that stuff to the other 5 bazillion threads you’ve started here. If it’s not indestructible, I don’t want you even trying to compare it to mine.

So as I said, please tell me about your MINI, but only if it’s reliable, trouble free and indestructible.

I guess I'll give it a go. I have a 2005 MC, just over 9000km. Trouble free so far except for a window not going up smoothly, somehow it fixed itself. So not only is it indestructable, but it can fix itself, hahaha.

I'll go for that one.

Come on people, only three in the world are even trying to lay claim?

theWrkncacnter, where in Florabama are you? I’m in Ft Walton Beach, about 50 miles close to the border, but not on it.

My MINI was like my dog. Dependable but stubborn. You can't help but to love it.

Ok let me clarify the difference between reliable, trouble free and indestructible to the whinny wimpy complaints.

Maintenance to your MINI has nothing to do with whining about a small squeak you hear as you slowed down to cross a railroad track at 2 MPH because you might damage something if you go over it to fast.

You drive hard and feel brakes fade; you change them to better pads. You need new tires you change them, oil is the same. Maintenance has nothing to do with what I’m talking about to disqualify you.

I've got 24,000 miles after less than 3 years. I drive some poor roads, on the street and highways, at track, driving schools and at autocross each month.

Overall my MINI is "indestructible" and has had it's share of things that broke or failed along the way. Been through several sets of upgrades now for at least the majority of things upgraded including:
cold air intake
Exhaust header
Cat back exhaust
rims and many many tires
full suspension- shocks,springs, swaybar
Brakes-rotors, pads, fluid, caliper paint

Still got my original:
6 speed tranny and clutch with Quaife added
leather seats
exterior hardware and lights (except for one replaced passenger Xenon)

Small rattles and noises? Not a problem. Just turn up the music.:impatient

26 months, and 56K miles.
Always starts, first crank everytime, even at -47C( thats -52.6F) Even before I got a block heater.

When the tranny blew a seal and dumped a 1/3 of the fluid, after a flush and new seal, it sounded and ran like new. But I did get a new tranny.

I motor on a lot of gravel back roads, the car does not rattle.

I can plow through 6 inches of snow, with it flying over the bonnet

I have never needed a push when I have got stuck in snow, just go in the other direction, and charge at it again. Snow tires make this even better.

Today on the way home, motoring along at 70MPH, a 1/2 ton started shedding bales of insulation from the box, man they don't bounce in a predictable manner, I had no problem dodging any of them. Kind of like the deer, and other critters I see every day.

Oh and in a snowstorm, I'm phoning for help for the SUV's and 4x4's stuck in the ditch

This little car is one tough nut, looks like new, except for a pitted windsheild that takes direct rock hits all the time, and paint chips in the bonnet.

I was thinking 07, lately I'm thinking be the one and only owner and drive it for a very long time

Me! My Wanda is an awesome little beast! She has a glitch in her passenger side window motor, but her engine is fantastic! I drive her all across the country annually and she's been the best car I've ever owned. I love her!

My '03 with a bit over 31k has been pretty decent. No major problems whatsoever, minor stuff was a coolant tank and the infamous power steering fan, a recall for shock bolts, a sticky sunroof roller screen and an intermittent boot latch. I had to install two missing subframe bolts because the threads werent tapped for them (I claim rarity on that one!) All the mods I added have been working perfectly.

Speaking of rarity, I still have my original windshield too.

My "Pepe" is the best! I have had no trouble except for others being jealous because my car is cuter than theirs! I have put almost 30,000 miles in only a little over a year of ownership and have loved every minute of it. I have never owned a car that i actually loved but i do now! pepe is the only car that i ever actually wanted to wash and i enjoy it!

My '05 MC, Red 5 is THE BEST auotmobile I HAVE EVER OWNED!!! I love my MC. Rock solid, comfortable, manuverable, zippy and full of character! A real extrovert of a car. Both Red 5 and I can't wait until Saturday October 15th when all the Star Wars deco is applied!

Did I mention that I love my MC?

Sabine is almost perfect. I say almost because at about 115-130mph the windshield makes a noise akin to that of a banshee. At first I thought the glass was going to explode out.

It seems funny to me to hear people chiming in with cars that have 9K km on them saying they are reliable etc. I think to really lay claim to a title like this you should have at least 150K Miles on your car w/o any major problems. (200K+ even better). I know these cars haven’t been around that long in the US but it scares me to think people are "happy" they can go 50K w/o problems, I expect any new car to easily pass 100K w/o problems.

Do probems that don't show up until 115 mph count?

There is someone here in NAM that has 100k plus miles on they're MINI! I would love to hear what they have to say about this topic!!!

I love my car.

But then again I was used to driving VWs. My 65 bug would start on fire if someone rode in the back seat! Everyone we ever owned had wiring problems. Not to say i still don't appreciate a good VW but they're harder to find than MINI in California without a mark-up or a wait time.

I don't care if Justa rattle and hums, I don't even hear most of them. What I love is after 42000 miles and almost 24 months I still have this goofy grin when I drive her!

5700 miles and 5 months old. Only problems it has had were caused by me tinkering with it

But really only some BS computer glitch which seems to of so far fixed itself. I haven't let the stealer touch that

My July 02 built MCS (picked up in Aug) is a tank!

Gas and Go, that's it! Just rolled through 75,000 miles and after doing Insp II, I decided to reset the "Adaptive Learning" and ended up chirped the tires going from 1st to 2nd If you high mileage drivers haven't reset the ECU yet, give it some thought.

My MCS is indestructible. Not enough miles on him yet to prove it but here's my case:
  1. 12k miles in 6 months.
  2. Took on a Hemi at 3 weeks - https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=41212
  3. Starred in new episode of "Cops" on his 6 month birthday - https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?p=653342
  4. Big time fun and not a minute's trouble in between. Who knows what will happen next.

3 months old - 2,900 miles and no problems.

There was a glitch in the armrest but like many of the cars described here, it cured itself.

12 months of driving. 40,000 miles. And these aren't just your run of the mill highway miles. These are hard miles. I drive her SO hard. I mean, I love my car to death, and to me, that's how she wants to be driven. I jump off of EVERY line! up to 6K rmps in 1st and 2nd to get up to speed, then from there, when ever we're accelerating she's in a gear that puts her above 5K rmps. And, well I post this in this thread because I have had NO engine, trans, clutch, suspension problems of any kind! Supercharger has a 19% on it. not a problem yet there at all... NONE! I had new breaks/pad warrenteed because I was under 36k and my BMW/MINI service representative is the MAN! And since I wouldnt call replacing breaks and rotors a problem with the car since breaks and rotors are suppose to break down, then You can safely say that NOTHING has gone wrong with a car that definitely should not still be running like new.

Yes...WHAT A CAR, INDEED! But unfortunately this is not the crowd that needs to hear this, because you all already know the wonders of this car. If only others knew...
