R50/53 Question about Production Number
Hi All You MINI Nuts!
I ordered my MC in mid-November in Portland, OR and was told that when the car was built, I would be contacted and given a production number. I called them (dealer ) around January 10 and they told me that the car had been scheduled to be built January 4th and that delievery would be 6-8 weeks after that date. (Imagine how I felt knowing that my baby was now in the world). It is now January 29th and I haven't heard a word from anyone. The salesman is nearly impossible to communicate with. I'm starting to get a little nervous. I would be less dissapointed with a later delivery date than I would a dishonest dealer.
I'm wondering what others have experienced about this. When does the MINI pack arrive? Before or after the delievery of the car? Also, is there a way to contact BMW MINI directly to get the production number.
Thanks for your help!

You really need the production number from your dealer. Once you have that you can use it to track your MINI from the MINIUSA.com Owners Lounge (weekly updates) or call ask MINI at 1-866 275 6464 (daily status). The vin # you can get from the Owners lounge.
But, I believe the dealer is still the only source for the production number.

IF you can not get the Motoring Advisor that you dealt wiht ask for the Sales Manager. You will get response then. Northwest MINI had a big turn and I had to go through the sales manager and that is who I deal with for the most part now. Get better and more accurate answers. I also complained about the lack response from the advisors and got floor mats and other stuff free for my MINI.
Does not hurt to be a squeaky wheel,
as long as the wheel is not physically on the MINI..........

Hi Needler - I had no issues getting my production # from my Motoring Advisor. It was located on my order form. It seems to me that is something the Motoring Advisor or Sales Mgr. would be happy to provide immediately. However, I was told that it would take about 2 wks. before my production # would show up correctly in the Owner's Lounge on the MINIUSA site. Just a heads up. Hope this helps.
MC-VR/W, pretty loaded (the car not me)

The next time you call your dealer demand to speak with your motoring advisor.... and threaten whomsoever will listen long enough with straight 4s across the board when MINI calls and asks you to rate your dealer!

Welcome Needler!
captnjoe is right....check on MINIUSA or call 1-866-ASK-MINI to find out the status of your MINI. You can use your production number or your VIN to do this. The dealership was REALLY bad about contacting me with information, too and the tracking system in the Owner's Lounge was correct to the day of my delivery. (I know this isn't the same for everyone, but mine was very accurate.)
You will receive some surprises from MINI, but it varies when they arrive. I didn't start receiving anything until after my car had already gotten to me, but it differs from person to person.
 Cheers!

Thanks for the advice. I called the Sales Manager and got a production number right away. Must've been 26 seconds before I was online following her progress. The dealer told me she'll be arriving in the California port on 1/31 and that I should have her by February 20th (ironically, that's my birthday!). I can hardly stand myself!!
I feel SOOOOOO much better. Thanks again.

Holy smokes -- I guess YMMseriouslyV from dealer to dealer. I got my Production Number (which always makes me think of Buzby Berkeley) the day after I ordered and had the correct info on the car in the "Owner's Lounge" within two business days. SHAME your dealer into doing better than this!
