R50/53 Burned my Leg on rear exhaust.
Burned my Leg on rear exhaust.
On my trip home with Francis, I had to get something out of the rear boot, I leened in to try to reach a bag that had fallin after stopping. And then it happened instant 3rd degree OUCH!
I have a MC which as we all know the exhaust tip is on the Pasenger side. I started to think about those with the MCS if any one has with the exhaust tips more frequently. If not a word of caution.
Cheers
Shawn

Yes, you CAN burn yourself (or worse a child can burn a leg) on the hot tailpipes on either the MCS or MC.
We were looking at a MINI that had the Ociari body kit and in the rear the bumper comes out farther than stock to shield the tail pipes more than usual.
On my MCS my milltek pipes come out when hot but retract when cooled down. I have backed up into my blue plastic tarp at the track and melted blue stuff on my hot tail pipes.
Just be careful out there.

I think you mean first degree burn, b/c if I remember from anatomy correctly, a third degree burn is usually to the bone and your nerve endings are BBQ'ed. To get back to the subject, I did that when I was younger on my dad's Baretta; the Chevy car of the early 90's, not the gun
. I always use a wide stance when I get anything out of my boot. In a regular Cooper I would just say stand a little more to the left.

Well it blisted instantly. looked up definitions What I have is a 2nd degree burn,.
Second-degree burns affect both the outer and underlying layer of the skin, causing pain, redness, swelling, and blistering. PLus a very large half moon scar.

My wife burnt her leg on a motor scooter muffler ... TWICE over two days in the exact same spot. Looked ugly as hell. Never left a mark. If it was 3rd degree ... you would be getting skin grafts
Sorry for your pain. I know it has to hurt

>>>>ouch! that hurts - may have to rethink the magnaflow idea!<<<<
Aw, any exhaust will do it. Just a hazard inherent with any car that the tips protrude on. But it does give you a good idea of how large the 'Flos trumpets are!
