Welcome Kit

Does MINI still send out a welcome kit that includes the Let's Motor rubber band, a Let's Motor pen, Mini Messaging Kit, Mini Motoring Journal, Interstate Highway Bingo, and a Roadside assistance card with your in-service date?

Yes. I have received 4 of them as I have purchased 3 new MINIs since 2002.

Do a search on the topic. No need for a new thread.

I got 3 of them, (and only bought one Mini). It took like 8 months and several phone calls to get them, but, they did come.

So if a thread bothers you, don't read it. I would say that pretty much handles the problem!

Well, then no one would learn - and use search, and find all the past information - the board would be going around and around in circles witht he same old crap every month. That's the Whole POINT of a message board - otherwise it's called chat.

i just received mine, about 4 weeks after delivery.

i love the little flash card that says "get off the phone and enjoy the ride" but i'm afraid where i live that would lead to road rage!

PLEASE don't take this personally,

I would guess that about anything you can think up has been "discussed to death". The phrase "please us search" has been one of the most popular posts on this site.

If no one posted anything that was not "new" this site would DIE.

The person making the post has 29 posts so has not been around too long (just a guess -- may have lurked around for a couple of years).

I just get tired of every time someone ask a question someone else post "do a search".

Earl, I agree. I wish people would be kinder to newbies and realize that even though a topic may be old to them, that there are plenty of newer members who will find such topics interesting. Let's be kinder to our new members and give them a helping hand, people.

I was searching for a SPECIFIC thread to post to it - I find all the general info about the welcome kit in 2 seconds.

Nice try though (not).

Well I have owned a MINI since 2002 and have been on this site for some time. I don't post as I think many owners are rude and take away from the spirit of owning a MINI. I have seen many people be personally attacked for having opinions and for not agreeing with others.

SO, with that in mind, I will post whatever I wish and Mark or one of the moderators can tell me if it is not okay. I really don't care if another owner does not want to read my post. It's a free county so don't read if you don't want to! And I agree, there is not much new to talk about, just new spins.

Took a couple months for me to get mine. But it was a great treat to get!

I agree about the search thing....it makes people afraid to speak up at all if they know somebody's just gonna blast them. The moderators do a pretty good job of handling that stuff anyway. There's rarely any topic to come up that hasn't been discussed already in some form.

Exactly. Some of the regulars here are so territorial and mean-spirited that new folks either take abuse from rude people or stay away. I read posts but then pretty much stay away from posting. I cannot believe that being mean is the spirit of this site nor is it the spirit of a MINI owner. Folks can't even sell their MINI's without getting blasted! I have a post the had to be suspended because folks got so rude that Dave took it off to clean it up! All I was doing was asking a question about body work!

OK, I'll post a new thread each week for each of the below topics...and no one will have a problem with it or comment that it's been discussed before, or to stop - right?

What's a welcome kit?
Why does my exhaust backfire?
Do I have to use Premium gas?
Why are the seats uncomfortable?
When should I change my oil?
What is covered at the first scheduled maintenance?
How do the headlight washers work?
How do I break-in the engine?
Hi I'm new - where's everyone from?
What's the best pulley size?
What's the best intake?
What's the best computer mod?
Should I switch my wheels?
What's the best tire?

and the list could go on, and on, and on...

This isn't mean sprited or territorial (drama, much??) - it's just how forums work, and exactly WHY there is a search button and why topics should be sticky, and why there are FAQ pages.

Well this isn't life or death, new threads are not scarce resources, couldn't we just lighten up a bit? It is a forum, JUST a forum. I usually do enjoy reading what you guys all have to say even if it's been said before Strangers ask me the same questions about my car over and over...I gladly answer and talk with them as long as they want, I wish we could all do that here too.

How about we just ban 'rude' users, then the board will go up in good content. I wonder if there are any possible candidates for this.

I've received two kits so far and should be getting a new one since the new MINI arrives this weekend.

I've also seen a welcome kit on Ebay... probably more, only 1 hit my personal radar so far.

It would be fun to have one - I got a pre-owned MINI.

So, would your definition of 'rude' be not following the site guidelines, specifcally #3:

"SEARCH
Before posting, use the Search function to see if there has already been a thread on the same subject. Do not start identical threads or cross-post the same thread in different forums."

????

Or maybe you just wanted to make a personal jab and use the rolly eyes.
