R50/53 A nice compliment for my humble MCS
A nice compliment for my humble MCS
As I pulled out of the parking garage yesterday evening, my eyes were drawn to the fiery red presence of two lovely Ferraris outside - a 360 spyder and a rare 550 Barchetta.
I altered my usual exit course to drive by them, and gave a thumbs up to the man and woman standing with them. I started to drive off when the woman motioned me over to tell me that she was admiring my car! My humble MINI must of blushed as she walked over. We chatted for a minute (car people are car people, even if they're really rich), then I drove on home.
I couldn't help thinking: What other car could I have bought for $22K that would have been flagged down by someone standing next to two Ferraris?!

I hear you. I was driving to the beach this past weekend with the wife. Top down, enjoying the weather. Caught up to an older couple in their brand new yellow 911 Turbo Convertible. Pulled up next to them and admired the matching yellow accents on his car (gauges, seat trim, etc.) Gave them a
and sped of towards my exit. They happened to get off at the same exit. As we set there at the light we had a quick chat. They admired my car, I admired theirs. It was pretty cool.
I had to put my 13 year old Siberian Husky down Monday night. Seems he had had a number of strokes while I was at work, and there wasn't much the vet could do for him.
Talk about a downer...
As I drove by the road that cuts off to the vet Tuesday afternoon, I was feeling really bummed (and found out that it's kind of hard to drive a MINI with tears in your eyes).
Two guys (kind of rough looking) passed me in an old Ford Explorer - after following me for a couple of miles - they beeped their horn and gave me a "thumbs up". I just had to smile to myself, despite thinking about my buddy...

Shortly after I first got my S, I was gassing up @ a Costco. In the lane next to me was a brand new Viper. I'll admit I was checking it out, its driver ignoring the attention. Then all of a sudden the MINI was surrounded by a crowd curious folks, admiring and asking the usual questions, completely ignoring the $80K beast.
That one made me smile for a week.
Last night I was gassing up and admiring a '76 Eldorado convertible at the next pump. An older lady passed me heading for it and said "I like your car!" I said "I like yours". She laughed and said "Yours would probably fit in the back seat!"
...
Numerous times at drive thrus ive had people compliment. And also lots of times old people tell me things too.

HEY, I feel you. I've had those tears it seems like every 10 to 15 years. We just got a puppy 2 weeks ago. She rode great 50 miles in our Mini the first day and has been riding with us ever since. Take a little time then think about a new puppy. Puppies and Minis go together like milk and cookies.

That story breaks my heart... reminds me of when I had to have one of mine put down when she developed a brain tumor that was in-operable. I feel for ya!
