I was looking around the board and didn't see any. I was just wondering if anyone has heard any good new rumors? What with all the autoshows out there right now there has to be a few.

You know, maybe an RS awd model or a 4door like the photoshop 4door in the galleries. Maybe a pick-up, a new moke, or maybe a MINI service wagon!

No sooner than I posted this thread than I foun the MINI RS thread... in fine Homer Simpson fashion DOHH!!

 

Only thing I've seen from the car shows is the new Aztek - L.mini model.

Well, to start a rumor: I heard that MINI and Polaris were joining forces to build this:

I think that prototype MINI "OPEN" (Cabrio) is very ugly. What makes the MINI is the hardtop roof and neat pillar design. The absence of the solid roof completely ruins the looks of the car making it look small and goofy.

The horrible and cheap looking canvas roof doesn't help matter either.

The MINI was meant to have a solid roof and the new model faithfully follows on that design tradition. Make note that the original classic Mini never offered a cabrio version and the few in existance are aftermarket generated copies.

I think MINI is responding to VW's New Beetle cabrio and it is fine if they want to cover that small corner of the market. But MINI needs to concentrate in creating a MINI wagon "Traveller" or "Clubman" in either 3 door or 5 door configurations.

I've never been into convertibles to begin with and I would much rather see MINI spending time and effort creating a more family oriented MINI for those of us who plan or have small children already and refuse to settle for a mundane sedan, Minivan or SUV.

 

i prefer the ragtop ac schnitzer has for the cooper.
i don't really care for the cabrio in that photo!

 

Keep in mind that this is a very rough prototype that isn't suppose to be seen by the public. Lets give the powers at BMW/MINI credit for helping create the new MINI in the first place.

 

Hopefully that rumour about the "Rally" edition will be true. I would love a 220hp MINI! AWD would be nice too!

 

the cool thing about the RS coming out is that all of our cooper's will hopefully be paid off by then!!!

I heard they were going to build one of those.

It looks a bit like Jessie James's work though.
