Chips,
Yes! I have a very ordinary Club on my Multi Function steering wheel on a 2002 Cooper. Yeah, yeah I know that it's a weak security measure. I also have an alarm and am careful where I drive and park. I have the visible Club on just to cause that one kid to keep on walking and try the Impala with no Club.
It fits.

Don't the MINIs come with a passive can't start feature. I mean if you don't have the key it won't start no matter what. I have been told that by my salesperson. I am debating getting the alarm system... probably will, but he seemed to imply that they would have to haul it off that without the key they couldn't drive it off.

MINIs are really very low in the list of targets of professional car thieves. They are of no real value to them as there are not many of them in the road to begin with. Car thieves are more in the look out for Toyota Camries and Honda Accords, which are among the top ten most stolen cars in the US. Accords and Camries are worth gold in parts and the older the better. There are just too many of them to satisfy the "Needs" of the black market.
I hate clubs, they are useless, bulky and clumsy and serve no real purpose. Any determined thieve with the right tools can cut thru it easily.
The center steering wheel hub in the MINI can scratch and peel very easily when trying to fit a club bar. Actually the club is supposed to be install facing the dashboard and away from the center hub on air bag equipped cars.
If you feel paranoic about your car, consider ordering the MINI factory installed alarm or even a Lo-Jack.
The MINI "rolling code" keyless entry system automatically changes the access code everytime you open or close the car with your remote keyfob. The system can't be cloned by a radio device and the combination possibilities run in the millions.
I would not worry about it. Now if you have an Accord or Camry, that's a different story and concern.
