Massey Ferguson vs. MCS

Had a fun little encounter along one of the roads that runs along some of the farms around here. Ended up stuck behind a tractor pulling a hay wagon doing about 20mph. As we come up to the traffic light, I begin to think something is up. Now I KNOW there aint no hay to be haulin' down here as it's not up yet. Then it hits me! Tractor Dude was lookin' for a race! Sure enough, as we get to the light which had turned red, Tractor dude gets into the right lane and waves me around. He thinks that his empty wagon ain't gonna hold him back much, so I keep my cool and size him up. Fairly recent Massey, diesel, a good 400 lb-ft of torque at his disposal. Not a problem. I let my engine sit at idle waiting for the light to go green. It does. Dude aint moving! I KNOW he wants to holeshot me from the light, but there he is, waiting for me to go around! Well, I bring my revs up to a good 1500-1700 and ease out the clutch. I see the Dude start to get on it. Well, I hit second at about 15mph and check my rearview. He aint even close! I see him get back into the lane with his flashers going, knowing that he's sitting back there eating my dust. That was too freakin' easy!

Hey, Phil....isn't there a MINIMUM speed of at least 40 mph on those roads?

Oh, the shame of a MINI owner ever getting a ticket for going too slow!

With 400 ft lb of torque, that tractor could have smoked you if he wanted to.

My dad has a Leyland tractor, now THOSE things haul.

THATS BS!!! I call BS on this story. No way in hell can a 1.6 keep up with 400 ft./lbs of torque. It's all about the numbers. 400 > 1.6.

These type of threads are full of it, besides MINI is only a hatchback, for going to the store and back. Anyone who races them is stoopid.

Yeah, those things have helicopter engines (like 4 of them)! Allison engines, I believe. At least they used to back in my day....

Awesome Greatbear! I managed a hole shot against a John Deere GT235 last week. (red-lined it in 1st, and he was smoke by 2nd) But, its nice to know that the MCS can go against the big guys too!

Hmmm, it says it has a supercharger...

If your opponent on that fateful day had been on THIS... .

Wish I had this puppy back when I was mowing lawns for candy-store money. Yeah, $5 to do an avg suburban lawn sure weren't much, but wow could I ever have made it up in volume (moving at 70mph lol).

This looks like a JD4020. You gotta drop the 4 bottom dragchute just to slow this sucker down. Greatbear wouldn't have a chance against it!

When at the Dragon, beware the evil rock-throwing grass-cutters! UGH!! They've been known to ruin MINI rims.... and make Hwy. 28 DANGEROUSLY slippery!

Hey do me a favor and help out Illinois farmers too - send some of that "waterlogged" down here to us droughted folks!

Now excuse me while I go pester some otherwise-peaceable farmers for a race,
