Stick on States Map?

Ok, y'all may think this is nuts, but...

I'm looking for one of those outline maps of the US that you see on the back of RV's. I've spent a couple minutes searching various RV forums, but all the ones they have are like 2 feet by 1 foot. I'm looking for a much smaller one, for a MINI. Maybe 4 or 5 inches across?

Pig's been in a lot of states now, and I think it would be hilarious to get him one of those maps.

Has anyone seen one on a scale more appropriate for MINI?

Thanks for any help.

I can't wait to see how many folks think this is the lamest idea ever.

Hey! I think it's a fun idea, Tom! I've been on three cross-country trips the past three springs, and would LOVE to have something like that!

In 2003, Wanda and I drove through 23 states!

You've driven to Alaska? How'd you like the Alkan HW? I've done it twice myself. If you can handle that trip you can drive anywhere.

Worst night I had though was on the Canadian border, it dropped to -60 F. My car battery wasn't too happy heh.

No, but I did drive to Hawaii!!!!!

I actually flew to Alaska, the last leg in a float plane, but did drive around a bit. I do want to drive all the way one day - better put that on the list. I have driven down to Cabo San Lucas and back and then up to Banff on the same trip. When I was surfing in Costa Rica, we met a couple that was driving all the way to the tip of South America. Now that is an adventure!

My father in law has driven crosscountry 5 times thought his life and has been to every state in the union. Some of those transcontinental drives were done in cars with no A/C whatsoever .

He has also driven up to Eastern and Western Canada as part of those long trips (45 days average originating from Miami).

Tom, I think that is a fabulous idea! And oh yeah, I think the meaning is that it's not which states YOU'VE been in, but the states that Pig's been in, right?

I've done 3 crosscountries and the one Cabo-Banff perpendicular leftsidecountry. My "best" one was a 3 month, 18,022 mile, 35 state circle tour, ALL on back roads (no interstates!). Driving through a state on an interstate as opposed to back roads is an unbelievable difference. There are very few bad back roads and very few good interstates.

If we find a good map, it will definitely be good incentive to head out on a road trip!

Well, of course. I mean, it's not going to be stuck to me.

I looked at the custom sticker site linked up above, but it doesn't seem like they could do it. Their minimum sticker size is around an inch square, and since they'd have to do each of the states as separate stickers, that means the overall map would have to be quite large. Plus, they charge like 9 dollars per sticker, so the overall map would turn out to cost an awful lot of money.

I may just try to work something up on my computer and print it off at Kinko's.

Have you thought about going to a sign shop? I'm sure they could make up a full United States sticker with lines defining the states that will be the finished size you would like. Get a full one done and take a X-acto knife and cut along the borders to save some money. Keep the spare states handy for when you hit the border.
