R50/53 Mni's on the Lot!
For those of you that are willing to travel, check the Dealership in Virginia Beach, Va. I bought my "S" day before yesterday from lot stock of about 20 cars. Of the 20 cars, at least 4 or 5 were of the "S" variety. I just walked in to take a peek and drove away in what so far I consider to be the most enjoyable car I've driven in years. It pains me to hear of all you guys on a waiting list!
MINI-MadMan, where are you located in Canada? 2 weeks ago, I visited the dealer in Montreal (MINI Mont-Royal). Just like Rockpile6's dealer, they have a bunch of MINI's in the lot. If you are not too far from Mtl, you should check it out. The other MINI dealer in Montreal (MINI Laval) go by the waiting list. You wait longer, but get exactly what you what...

I'm out west in Kelowna, BC. At the time of ordering my Mini, there were Cooper's available, but no 'S' models. So I put down my non-refundable deposit for an 'S' exactly the way I want it to be. Do they have 'S' models over there on their lot? That would be sweet if I could find an available 'S' similar to what I ordered, someplace in Canada for my dealer to buy. Thanx for the heads up. I'll check into it.
Cheers

It was exactly as I wanted. Some of the premium features are not there such as GPS and cruise control but then I bought it for fun not cruising. If I want to cruise on the highway I'll just drive my wife's Maxima. The care is silver with a black top. So far (only 4 days) its been not only a head turner but a lot more fun to drive than anything that I've driven in years. Fortunately I live only 10 miles from the local dealer. Good luck with you coming delivery. I'm sure that you'll love it. As a side note, I love those parts of Canada that I've visited. With some minor exception (cold weather) I wouldn't mind living there. Good Luck.
who was your salesman and what kind of premium(if any) did they hit you for...we had a standard Cooper on order from the Sterling, VA dealer and when it came they got real "fishey" with the financing and i told them to keep it...i really wanted an "S" anyway, so tyhis could be a real blessing....

There was No premium! Couldn't talk them down from MSRP though. MSRP plus a free "MINI" ball cap was the best I could do. Salesman was Ernest (don't remember the last name). Dealers phone number is 575-270-8080 (ask for the MINI dealership). Go luck!
I bought a Cooper and have been on a waiting list since April (I SAW IT ON THE LOT, YOU GUYS! I THINK I GET TO PICK IT UP THIS WEEK!!!!!
) and I know that the list for the S is much longer, although the guy at the dealership said people were buying them right off the lot. A friend of mine lives near Manhattan and he checked out the dealership up there and was told that the waiting list for the S extended well into next year. After hearing that, it sure made me feel better....especially since the wait is almost over!
