R50/53 MOP not knowing all of the programmable options?
MOP not knowing all of the programmable options?
My MA has related to me that MOP has never done some of the options on the excell spreadsheet that I downloaded from a thread here, reportedly from Appalachian MINI, and have attached.
Are there any MINI owners that have experience with the service center at MOP? I had heard that they were the best in this area, although there are only three to choose from.

Your best bet is to do what I did when I received my car. Go with the car to the service department, have the tech hook his computer up to the car, and then go over each and every available option, selecting those you want. Anything else is guesswork.
My unofficial, off-the-record info on the subject, from a knowledgeable source, indicated that the dealer-programming options vary from car to car, not just according to equipment, models, years, but because the code/programming which MINI is always updating (for "yo-yo" - and many other issues) often results in some dealer programming choices being eliminated. So blame the dealers when they over-promise and blame MINI too, but as far as I'm concerned those programming choices don't have THAT much to do with enjoying a MINI.

Due to it also being the VA state law, the one option I wish I had would be for the headlights to come on automatically when the wipers are on.
Automatic wipers are cool. Automatic headlights are cool. I just wish they talked to each other too.

Yes, but I want to control the options I have, not take the defaults.
ie unlock doors when engine is shut off so I don't have to open twice on the handle.
Why would the options vary from car to car?
Maybe I should rename her "Christine".

When I left MoP after some update and the doors locked as I pulled away, I looped round four off-ramp / on-ramp combos and went straight back in to have the settings restored to what they were before the update.
The key is that the list you have may not be accurate - some things you might want may no longer be available, and some new things may be available that you don't know about.
Courteous and timely discussion with the MINI techs is the best way.

Is every MINI the same as every other MINI?
See my other answer to your same post over on MINI2.
MINI like all big companies do things their way - luckily we enjoy most of what they do.
Why could I not buy an '05 convertible with red/black seats? Because.

The PDC is an optional item, it's not free.
The PDC doesn't make a noise outside the car... It's inside the car for you to help you guage how far you are from the car behind you as you back up.
Red & Black seats..
Just a short 'sidebar'. The gent from MINIUSA that was at the Dragon overheard me discussing this with a bystander who was checking out my seat covers. He introduced himself and explained that not only are the convertible seats diff because of the air bags, but that the U.S. spec convert seats are another unique subset of convert seats 'cause of different specs for U.S. airbags. Just too many combinations at least to start with. He stood and looked at my car and said, I think we need to offer red and black as a interior though!
