R50/53 My flat tire warning light drives me nuts!!
My flat tire warning light drives me nuts!!
Id say I get a false flat about 2 times a week. As soon as I get a light, I stop and look at all 4 tires and check pressures. Nothing has ever been wrong, and sometimes it happens under mild accel. on a completly flat surface. It turns off after 3-4 on/off cycles of the car. Anyone have anything close to this many falses'?

I had so many tht I gave up checking pressures and just did the reset. When I finally DID have a flat I trashed the tire. So I sold the other runflats to other MINI owners and bought regular tires and a big can of foam
Ours has come on a couple times. Freaked me out. We noticed that the times it did come on were times when we had actually had something resting on the co-pilot side of the e-brake. We think that it was pressing on the reset button and that is why the light was coming on...

My DSC and flat tire lights were coming on in my 04 MCS alot about a year ago. It didn't happen all the time, but it was getting more frequent as time went by, until the warning lights were on most of the time. Like mburchill36 the car drove fine. Tire pressures checked out fine. Multiple resets of the flat tire light were unsucessful.
Dealer thought it was a bad sensor. They replaced a sensor(s), but it did not cure the problem. They poked around for a long time before finally tracking the problem down to what was described to me as a control module that is located beneath the parkbrake lever. What finally tipped them off to that location was that the lights would (sometimes) NOT come on when the car was started with the ebrake on. The lights would come on when the ebrake was released.
I have no idea what it all meant, but whatever they did in that location finally worked - no problems since.

I'm embarassed to admit how long I went w/o checking my tire pressures on the Dunlop run-flats. I figured the light would come on if something was really wrong. When I finally did check them, they were at least six pounds apart. The light never lit.
I did recently confirm that it actually works, though. My Yokos were ten pounds apart when the light went on. I reinflated the tire, reset the gauge, and it turned itself off. Rechecked a couple times after that, and all is good.

Mine sometimes lights up right after I swap my summer rims/tires for winter rims/tires (or vice versa). I reset it and it's fine.
The only other time it came on was once on the highway. I pulled into a rest area and all looked fine. Reset it and a little later we stopped at a restaurant to eat. Came out to a flat tire.

YEP! I've got a brand new '05 MC with 600 miles now and and the light has come on twice! Both times I turned the car off, checked the tires, (all within 1/2 # on my racing gauge) started the car back up and the light went away! It's the only problem I've had so far, but something is not right.
