Remotely Putting Up The Windows...

Is there a way to do this, without sticking the key in the drivers door, would be much nicer to do this while walking away. Oh, and BTW, did you know you can put down the windows, open the sunroof/top with the lock switch inside the car?

I hear ya! Unfortunately, I don't know if there is a possibility of doing this without "hacking" the BC-1 body module.

Maybe GBMINI has already investigated the possibility to enable such feature.

Didn't know the lock switch trick, I'll give that a try. I don't thing there's a way to remote close. You wouldn't want little Johnny to get his head caught when you accidently activated the key!

That could happen. I was squatting down cleaning my wheels on Sunday and all of a sudden the windows opened. The key was in my pocket and activated somehow!

I believe in european market MINI, the "auto-up" window feature is enabled from factory but not so for Northamerican bound MINIs.

One thing I have noticed though in my new '05 MCS is that the power window motors are much faster in comparison to my old '04 MCS and '02 MC.

Duh...you can close everything with the key in the lock?? I've been climbing in, putting the key in the ignition...yada yada.

And what - you just hold the lock switch up to open everything?

Hold it down. Key in the ON position, doors closed...

I stumbled upon this one while playing with Ian's circuit.

To close all, lock the doors with the key in the door and hold it in the lock position.

I thought the remote key automation was useful too...

...until one morning I discovered both windows and sunroof wide open. Luckily, the Mini was in the garage. It could have been outside in the pouring rain or parked in Lot C at LAX or...

Not sure what caused that "anomaly" but I promptly had them disable ALL remote functions. If I could have disabled the remote unlocking, I would have done that too. I'm suspicious enough of the CAN bus software without having to worry about obscure bugs in the remote automation code!

Controller Area Network

Just about everything is networked in your Mini (switches, actuators, lights, etc.). This saves weight but it also makes problems harder to duplicate, isolate and definitively fix. I actually think this is the cause of many weird problems...
