HID jitter

I'm noticing that when stopped (and presumibly while moving) my HID lights jitter up and down. I'll be at a light and can see the pattern and reflection in the car ahead of me - they are jittering up and down ever so slightly, every second or so, fairly randomly. Is that normal?

I have only had to drive at night twice so far but mine might do the same thing. They're self leveling so maybe the vibration from the car is making it re-level itself constantly.

They shouldn't be that constant... You might see move once when you stop, but it shouldn't be a continous movement like you describe

I have the 05 xenons and aside from major leveling I don't notice any slight jittery movements like you describe.

Is it when you are on a rough/bumpy road surface? Perhaps someone can observe your car from the outside and tell you if the lights are moving around or differently as compared to another mini with the same lights...

I tried to get it on video but it's not doing it in the parking lot. I'm going to take my camera around with me and try to capture it - it may only happen when the lights are on auto.

I do lots of night driving under various conditions and I haven't observed this. In fact I've noted just how rock-steady they are. I don't think your situation is normal.

OK here's a sample movie - it's not the car obviously but it's exactly what it looks like. Picture the light beam on the car in front of you at a light - this is what I see, just sitting there sometimes.

damn yeah that is not normal. Take the car to the dealer and bring the video with you! I've done this a few times and it helps.

That doesn't looks so much like the lights are moving as not getting a constant voltage

Either way, it needs to be checked out by the dealer as that's not how they're supposed to be working

OK thanks. I'm still going to try to capture the actual lights doing it, if only for the dealer so they don't jut say 'can't replicate problem'
