Heated Seats in Texas?

Hello all i am currently building a 05 MCS Hyper Blue/ White roof, i am getting the premium and sport packages along with the LSD, the rear fog, chrome interior, color matched dash, grey cloth seats. I live in DFW area of texas (Dallas/Fort Worth) everyone in my local MINI club raves about having heated seats. I dont know why as we are in Texas and it hardly ever gets cold here. I have been debating on getting the cold weather package due to practically everyone saying its the best thing they did. I dont understand this. If its so wonderful i dont want to kick myself for not having it. But i dont see the point in having it in Texas. Can someone enlighten me? Is it really worth it in Texas?

Even on cool nights it is great. It's just enough warmth on a cool night to keep you comfortable.

I also love it whenever I have a sore back - really helps

If you ever have an SO (or a date, even) who gets much colder than you do, the heated seats are the difference between sweating and being comfortable. Even if you NEVER run into a cool Texas night. Besides, what, you never do road trips??

DFW gets colder than here in south central Louisiana and I wouldn't get another car without that package. For the short winters we have and for the spouses/gf's who get cold it is SO worth it.

When we were building ours I barely had time to say cold weath...before she cut me off and said we have to get that.

Get the heated seats.

Yep agree. Once my wife got heated seats three years ago, I new I would get them in my car. I really like them on those mornings before I get to my bike rides, gets the back, butt, legs nice and warm so stretching is so much easier.

I live in Los Angeles where it is rarely below 50 degrees, but I got the cold weather package because I find it decadently lovely to have the sunroof open and the seats heated up as I motor along in the mountains or wherever it's cold. Also, on the long 12-14 hour stretches of my roadtrips, the seats definitely keep my spine limber! Worth every penny!

I'm in your local club, too (charter member ) and I don't have heated seats. Never once wanted them, missed them, fanticized about them. I have cloth seats...maybe that helps. I'm also warm natured...that probably helps, too.

The point about a SO is a good one, but I've never been one to plan around that. (Hmmmmm.....I also haven't got a SO. )

If you think you want it, get it...no harm done. I'm the kinda guy that goes for what I really will use/need.....which totally explains the spec of my Cooper.

Absolutely!

Once you've had them, I don't think you'll go back. They are great for long drives, cold weather (yes it gets cold enough to enjoy them) and as others mentioned, my Girlfriend swears by them!!

In addition to helping on long drives, heated seats are great for when you realize that you over-did it at the gym the previous day.

I talked my wife out of heated seats on her BMW several years ago and she, to this day, will not let me forget about it. Suffice it to say, our Volvo and MINI have heated seats.

Tisk, Tisk, Tisk, I can't believe you have to come here for validation of what we have been telling you on the local board . . .

We have enough 50 degree nights that are perfect for roof open, windows down and seat heaters ON, that it's worth it in my opinion. On a 60 month loan, you are looking at $5 a month. Just do it, TRUST US . . .

Oh, Hi Clo, and Donna and John.

Oh, Hi Clo, and Donna and John.
Yeah UJ you know i have to ask everyone. My only concern is that with the Cold Weather it puts me just over what i wanted to spend. I was looking at under $25k and with that it puts me at $25,170 but i dont like those open spots next to the mirror button. I want switches there.

The satisfaction of staying under the $25K number (which goes out the window with tax, license and registration...) will be gone long after your future SO says "I'm cold" as you sweat in the seat next to her.
Besides, more buttons are good! Got a full toggle rack? You've GOT to have a full toggle rack. And the parcel shelf - UJ will save you $28 on the rubber insert. Oh, and the boot mat, and the GBO, and Ian's auto-up module, and...

Another vote for the heated seats.

I love 'em. And I miss them on my new-to-me 10AE Miata...

Get them! All the points above are correct. 1. comfort. Nothing like 'em on a cold morning. 2. Back: when you have a sore or tired back, it feels SOOOO good. 3. Peace...no fighting over the heat...much..

I have used them for all the above! And I live in Alabama!

Well currently i dont have to worry about a SO i am only 26 and not married, nothing serious. And yes buttons are good, i love buttons. I will have a full toggle rack thats why i got the rear fog. And i plan on doing the parcel shelf. Whats a GBO? Yes i already want the autoup module.

GBO - Glove Box Organizer, or Glove Box Tidy as GoMINIGo calls his. Indispensible, unless you like the contents all over your floor.
There shouldn't be any issue with heated cloth seats. I've got the leather, but would prefer cloth.
As you don't have an SO, then you can always subtly turn the heater on during a date and utter the immortal words, "Am I making you hot, baby?"

Hey Lizzy -

...not to mention it is really, really fun to secretly hit the "hot seat" button with a passenger and watch their puzzled face....
