Smoke detector over rear seats?

Hmmm? What is the thing that looks like a smoke detector sticking down from the roof over the rear seats (at least in a MCS)? Can't find any reference to it in the owners manual. Thanks.

You've read about the adaptive ECU (Engine Control Unit?) and how it adjusts itself to your driving style? There's a little camera up inside there - the computer watches you as you drive. Your MINI is watching!

(Actually, it's where the motion detector for the option alarm system goes.)

Really? I was told that it's for the optional Infinite Improbability Drive!

No, no, no. That's your Flux Capacitor. Unfortunatly, no one has figured out how to get 1.21 Jigawatts out of the 1.8L engine yet.

Nope, the 1.21 Jigawatts doesn't come from the engine, it comes from the optional Mr. Fusion that attaches to the top of the car. Only problem is that you have to remove the antenna first, and apparently folks don't want to give up their radio reception

But if you put the Mr. Fusion on your car you wont have to pay for gas anymore. Just put empty beer cans in there or banana peels in there and presto 1.21 Jigawatts .

You guys have it all wrong. That is where the spatial dimension field emitter is. It's what gives such a tiny car so much room inside.

Field output has been increased in '05 models to also make the rear view mirror look bigger.

...It is where the interior (noise) sensor for the alarm system is installed.

It's the anti theft tag.

They just forgot to remove it.

Didn't the alarms go off when you left the dealer?

Haha I accually was wondering the same thing and posted this thread https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=37714

I can only figure out it has something to do with the alarm system. Kinda funny though being that they would put it in a car without the alarm system. Guess it's prewired to save on cost. Yeah. Save. With the stock alarm being what $400? That's not too much saving's. My previous car had a shock/motion sensor under the hood that cost a total of 22 bucks to replace. I still think it's a camera and they are watching you. wooooooooooooo. hahaha.

Undoubtedly, in the future the engine will be 1.8L so it all makes sense.
