Watch Clearance on Automatic Car Washes!

I don't know if this has been addressed by somebody else but watch the clearance of the guiding rails on some automatic car washes!

The other day, I took my MINI to a car wash than watched as the workers had to lift the back end off the rail at the end of the run. No damage but damn was I worried.
(the other customers got a chuckle out of the ordeal, however!)

I'm back to touchless car washes until spring when I can wash my car myself

Automatic car wash??????

I will stand outside in 10 degree Pittsburgh winters with a hose before I subject Charlie to that torture.

You will find a large variance of opinion on this board; some say treat it like a regular car. Me? I stand in the snow and wash it. Only been handwashed.

It's a very small job (except for the wheels )

Red

I take mine to a handwash place. I know it's not the same as doing it yourself, but so far so good.

It's not the standing in the snow that's the problem with handwashing up here,it's the fact that the water would turn to ice on contact with the sheet metal, and having to chip the ice in the bucketAt -25F water freezes pretty fast
The wandwash is the best option, and they give you time to dry the car.Just don't hold the nozzle to close, and use more of a glancing blow,as apposed to a direct hit

My baby's first mark was curb rash from an auto wash. Wife thought she was being nice and having it washed for me. Nice thought but I was so mad and she was so upset I almost talked her into washing it nude but alas too many neighbors.
