That looks like a donmar sunroof. You can get electric or manual.
-> http://www.donmar.com/sunroofs/fold.htm
No idea where you can buy 'em, or where to get 'em installed, though.

Crevier MINI had one in the show room for a while, don't know where it was done, or if they still have it there. The rest of the car was decked out to look like one of The Italian Job MINIs.

That is the official MINI "electric folding roof" that is offered as an accessory outside the US. It retails for £510 in the UK.

I saw the Crevier one too. They had it done aftermarket by a local shop. If you want more info, contact Crevier MINI in Santa Ana, CA. They could tell you who did theirs and how much it cost.

The traditional name for Classic Mini folding roofs was Webasto ...

... try this : http://www.webasto-us.com/home/en/homepage.html

If it's cheap and maintains the stock power feature, I'm very very interested.

I've seen those pics around for several years now. My guess, btw, is that the weight savings (over the glass sunroof) is not tremendous. The fabric roof has all of the same parts as the glass sunroof except for the 2 pieces of glass. The motor, tracks, etc. are still there.

Advantage? = total light blockage when closed
Disadvantage? = much easier for thieves to break into (vs. getting through glass)

I love it. I'm concerned tho that it might combust under the heat of the Dragons breath.

thanks for all of the input!

i like the security and eficiency of the slider. but i dont like the look when its open.

i might have to go the custom route,

seeing how a simple snap on cover would be the most aesthetic and practical.

i would also still like to retain the B-pillar for structural integrity and overall stiffness.
a plastic cover could be made easy enough to make it pretty on the top side.

Webasto makes a rag for the mini's it's roughly 700 US dollars, then you have to have it installed. We researched this about a year ago, and opted to have a custom headliner instead
.

I dig the rag top, not sure how well it would hold up in the winter- but I think this would be a good alternative to a full-fleged convertable (which IMHO- creates too many sacrafices and is too dam pricey)

In Europe this is a very popular option specially on the Coopers that come without factory AC (just heater). They look very cool with the top open, very nice apperture and you get keep some metal arround you in case of a roll-over.

Ahh Webastos,

They give you the noise, leaks and lack of security of a rag-top, all while providing, hmmm... noise, leaks and insecurity.

If I'd wanted a bloody cabrio, I'd have ordered one.

Sorry, had a bad experience once long ago with an MGB-GT. Never been a fan of Webastos since.
