R50/53 Silly key/transmitter question
Silly key/transmitter question
One of the master keys I received will not operate the locks, etc. remotely. It does work the door lock and ignition manually. The master key I drove off the lot with works in all situations.
Is the battery for the suspect key in need of a charge? Can this been done with the key just sitting in the ignition (not turned) ?
Sorry for the silly question. The owner's manual did not help me.
Thanks!
Erik

"In every master key there is an
extended-life battery that is
charged automatically in the ignition
lock as you drive.
Therefore, use any otherwise unused
master key for a longer journey every six
months so that its battery can be
charged." - Page 24

I though the question was along the lines of being able to charge it by simply placing it in the ignition slot, without turning on the car or driving at all. I'm not sure when you'd have the time to leave your key in the car, but that seemed to me to be the question. Guess i read wrong

I thought you might be considering leaving it in the garage, but I was also hoping that you wouldn't in case someone tries to steal your car. Luckily no one hear knows your address or there might be some trouble. Anyways, it'll be interesting to get the report, and hopefuly your car is still there in the morning.
