Picture Search: Black Leatherette

I'm hoping someone could post a clear picture of the black leatherette with alloy patina or anthracite trim. I can't get a good feel for what it really looks like from the MINIUSA.COM configurator. Unfortunately MINI has not opened a dealer in Iraq....

thanks!

Paul,

You're one of at least a handful of NAM members posting from Iraq. Welcome to the forums.

Hopefully someone will come along with the pictures you requested.

Paul,

Welcome to NAM

When Dave said, "Hopefully someone will come along with the pictures you requested." What he really means is of course someone will post pictures of anything people ask for.

Thank you, everyone. I hope to be home soon. To "Imavunderbrah" and others - how do you like the black leatherette?

Lois - thanks again for the great picture of your beige leather interior.

I appreciate the kind words of support.

In general I'm partial to cloth. My first MINI had cloth, so I was apprensive about leatherette from the beginning. That being said, after 21K miles the seats still look brand new. As with any leather(ette) seats they get hot in summer, cold in winter... but thats what you expect when getting leather or leatherette.

I would get the leatherette over the leather ANY DAY. Everyone has their own opinion on this - some obviously love thier leather, but I still to this day have not seen a set of leather MINI seats where the leather wasn't baggy or rippled or "worn" looking. Price, look, durability - leatherette would definately be my choice.

Mine are not baggy, rippled or worn looking Parts of my body are but not my leather seats My cloth seats in my 03 were ok but always seemed to have strange discolored marks on them that came out of no where

hey paul -

first off...THANK YOU for what you are doing and representing and fighting for our country... words cannot express...thank you and to all of your comrades... we can never repay you for what you must be going through.

on a slightly different note - for what it's worth - i am in the process of ordering my second mini and have opted for the leatherette over the leather i had in my first car. it's not that the leather isn't great, but the leatherette feels more durable and stiffer and just better overall. i've also heard it requires less attention as it ages and keeps you in your seat more snugly through the twisties.

if mini is reading this - you deserve a free car for everything you're doing!

be safe - drew

Grr i was trying to find the link to the company that made the Armored MINI coopers but I can't find it anywhere.

They made an armored mini that could take small arms fire, .50 caliber and under I think, and had run flats with inner liners and armored radiator cover with side vents so the car would not over heat.

Thank you, Drew (newyorkcitymini) and Azwed for your replies and your kind words of support. Unfortunately, too many soldiers will never know the joy of driving a mini. Let's keep them and their families in our prayers.

A free mini sounds like a great deal to me!! Thanks for the feedback on the leather vs. leatherette.

Is this what you mean by "rippled".
