R50/53 Switching out stock seats
Switching out stock seats
I'm thinking about switching my leatherette seats on my 06 r53 out for the stock cloth seats. Does anyone know how hard it is with all the airbag hookups etc. can they just be switched out and plugged in or will it be an electronic nightmare?
it is pretty easy
If I remember right... it is pretty easy. I think the airbag was just a wiring harness. The bolts are more of a pain. Also DO NOT turn the car on with the airbag not connected to the seat. It will throw an SRS code and only the you will need a special odb computer to clear it. The std odb computer will not do it.
I put 2012 leather in my s. The front seats bolt right in. You have to modify the plugs so the car and the seats match up. For the back seats I just needed the center pivot latch and the plastic bushings. Then drill out the stock brackets to take the new bushing. This is due to the fact that the new seats have a bigger diameter rod for the hinge than the r53.
