I will probably be replacing the master cylinder, hard lines and calipers on the cooper s. Do I need a specific software or hardware to do ABS bleeding procedure? Is there a how to?
That seems easy. That is just normal bleeding procedure. How do you cycle the ABS pump to get all the air out? Or the ABS pump doesnt work like that?
On my fords I had to go in a special prodcedure where the computer activated the pump intermittently to clear all the lines of air.
Certain OBDII scanners like the Foxwell NT 510 Elite include that special function for activatin and bleeding the ABS. I have never done it myself so I apologize for not being able to add much more.
My R53 bleeds just fine with no special circumstances for ABS. Do yourself a favor and pickup a pressure bleed system from Harbor Freight that works with your compressor -- simple and effective.

But I am planning on changing the master cylinder and the hard lines, both will require the ABS pumps to be cycled and purged.

The Harbor Freight pressure bleeder works just fine but, I ended up with a Vacuula bleeder ; the ABS wasn’t affected in anyway…
if you open the system (allow air in) then abs activation is needed. if you are just bleeding in new fluid, not necessary. thats what i have read
You can bleed the brakes including ABS, however, you can’t let the master cylinder Run empty, then you’ll have an ABS with air bubbles that’ll require a dealer scan tool command to bleed out the air bubbles where it opens all the valves inside, etc
