Big Brakes

Hello all,

The other day I was at the salvage & I saw an R53 with REALLY big brakes that used the stock calipers with offset brackets to move the calipers farther out. The disks were 2-peice with aluminum hat sections. My guess would be at least 330mm on the front, & maybe 290mm on the rear; they were definitely bigger than my Gen 2 JCW brakes (316mm/280mm). I would have bought them, but I didn't see any identifying marks, so I wasn't sure if I could get replacement disks. Any idea who makes a kit like this?

These were stock calipers, as stated in my original post.

Ok, sometimes the stock ones look like stock and its one of those. Stock calipers on the R53 is a single piston and not red.

I am fully aware of what the stock vs aftermarket calipers look like.

Never seen one with stock single piston pushed out like you mention then. Only seen people do Porsche or Chevy Cobalt calipers like that on gen 1 MINIs or those aftermarkets above.

You should go back and either grab them or get some pictures. Would be curious to see them. I can't think it would be too hard to get a rotor manufacturer to cut some blanks.

If you know a disk manufacture who would be willing to do that, please let me know.
