Finalized my MINI specs tonight

Another boring installment of my MINI-buying experience for you all:

I sat down with my parents, and we went over all the options and packages, and I think I've finally got the hard part (deciding on colors/options) over with.

Here is my MINI:

2005 MINI Cooper
Chili Red/White Roof
Black/Grey two-tone leatherette
5 speed manual
Sport Package (DSC, 16" alloys, sport seats, fog lamps, rear spoiler)
Cold weather package
Dual pane sunroof
Xenon HID headlamps

I built it at miniusa.com for $20,550 which I don't think is bad for a car with as many luxury options as this one has.

My goal is to get it ordered before I leave for vacation on February 23rd.

I thought the Sport package came with 17" wheels.

I believe they do on the Cooper S, but on the base Cooper it's 16" wheels.

I like the new Grey/black leatherette seats, but my only caveat is the all grey seat in the back...too much gray for me. The front seats look cherry, though!

You know, you should order it tommorow (Jan 24th). That way you won't have to suffer long after the vacation waiting for delivery!

Yeah, actually, I don't like the look of the MINIs back seat in leatherette at ALL. Couldn't they have made the design a bit more interesting? It looks like a flat bench, there is no design to it. If you add leather, the back seat gets a cool design. Kinda dissapointing, but it's small pet peeve that doesn't bother me. It's not like I'm going to be seeing the back seat much anywhere, I'll probably never look back there.

But I agree, there should be more of a break-up in the back seat. The only design elements (which are in black) are the little bumps at the edges.

I don't want it to come in until late spring anyway, so it works out well. Plus, I need time to sell my car, which I won't be able to do while I'm on vacation. My dad said I should wait and order the car when we get back (March 5th) but I think that's too long to wait.

If there is a specific time that you want your MINI, go into the dealer and place your order and tell them when you want it. They can probably hold off on entering your order into the system until the right time comes closer since you will be on vacation.

Really? I didn't know that. I thought that once you placed the order, it comes in when it comes in, and that's it.

cool, thanks for the tip.

First off, the word boring and MINI should not be used in the same sentence.

Mandaboo is correct, I did this very thing. Wanted delivery for May. I placed the order at Motor City MINI last December, and its date build was scheduled. This way, no worries about an available slot when the time comes.

Leatherette good choice

I think the leatherette was a good choice. I sat in my friend's BMW 3 series which is equipped with the same material. It is virtually indistinguishable from leather. I ordered mine with the blue lapis leather which I have heard mixed reviews about. I think it is too late to change my order so I'll have to live with it, but hopefully it will work out.

P.S. Don't get too hung up on the tracking until you get a production date-the system moves a little slowly.

Congrats on your MC!
