R50/53 INPA for Steering Angle Sensor Calibration
INPA for Steering Angle Sensor Calibration
My DSC light is on so I was doing some checking with INPA, and my SAS is off 22 degrees. I'm guessing it got off when the sub was pulled to rebuild and update.
I thought INPA could do the calibration for me, but there is no activate option to start the procedure like on the other screens. I did notice F6 is missing on the SAS screen so could I be missing the option for some reason, or does it just not do the SAS calibration on any version?
Thanks!

If can use ISTA, Select and carry out steering angle sensor adjustment under Service functions.

Steering angle implausible
Possible cause(s) of fault:
- Faulty calibration
- Vehicle track maladjusted
- Incorrectly coded
- The steering-angle sensor can be twisted on the steering column
- The steering-angle sensor is not supplied via terminal 30
Storage condition(s):
- The DSC continuously checks internally whether the values measured by the sensors are plausible. If the steering angle does not match up to the other values, the fault is entered in the DSC.
- If the steering-angle sensor has no power supply via terminal 30, it must determine the current steering-wheel position via parameters after each ignition on. If this fails, the fault entry is made in the DSC.
Troubleshooting procedure:
- Read out the fault code memory of the steering-angle sensor
If the causes of the fault mentioned above are present, a fault must also have been entered in the steering-angle sensor. - Exception: interruption of the power supply (terminal 30): Here, a certain number of interruptions are necessary until a fault is entered in the steering-angle sensor.
Check the power supply (terminal 30) of the steering-angle sensor
In the test module B3714_00001 under (steering-angle sensor/supply) there is an interruption counter for terminal 30.

Looks to be version 5.0.6
I have NCSexpert and Tool32 as part of the suite when Adrian did my tune. I'll have to check to see if ISTA is in the folder as well.

I had read that link that was posted, but my current SAS seems to track correctly. It's just 22deg off when the wheel is pointed straight. I didn't think that was a brush problem requiring disassembly, but rather just a calibration problem once I discovered that value.
Did I misinterpret?

Put the road wheels stay in the straight-ahead position..Check if the steering sensor value is close to zero with INPA .Check the steering wheel position. If is not iN straight position, remove it and put in in the straight position.
With the SAS value off, it's throwing a code for implausibility.

Heads up itsa is a pain in the *** to download an install. If you have a hard time. Let me know. I can do a remote download an install for you. I use teamviewer. I done it for several folks on here.
Well, three nights in and I only have several hundred MB's of the file downloaded. MEGA really kills the bandwidth for not paying customers so I guess I'll need to decide if I want to get a cheap membership just to get this file then cancel...lol
Itsa is a picky install. It took me forever to get a proper download an working version. I must have tried at least a dozen times. If you like I can install. Just make sure you have 7zip an teamviewer.
TeamViewer I have, but I'll have to find and download 7zip. I'll get those setup and PM you. Thanks!
