Back after many years - 02' R53 Build

Well I believe it has been about 15 years since I was on the site and at the time advertised our 04' MCS for sale and ended up selling while living in Colorado. In 2012 I bought a 02' MCS and have had it since. Haven't driven it much and have been focusing on other projects. Started thinking about it a few weeks ago and thought it would be a good time to do some updates.

Currently all four corners have the brakes removed for replacements. Painting and baking the new rear calipers red to match the new red fronts. Drilled and slotted rotors all the way around. Have the following upgrades to tackle once I get home the next time:

Cravenspeed CAI
Cravenspeed 15% pulley
Front top mount strut bar
MSD Ignition, new plugs and wires
JCW style front grill
Black door, rear bonnet, and gas cap
Sparco R100 seats

Going to do the water pump, misc. seals and gaskets and all the fluids. Hopefully I'll be home this coming weekend to start and I'll try and keep up to date on my progress.

So I was able to get home last evening, which gave me some time to start working on the Mini today. Unfortunately one of the rotor set screws won't budge. The current drill bits weren't working on drilling it out. I'll get some good bits tomorrow and hopefully get this resolved.

Pulled the stock intake off in preparation for the new Cravenspeed CAI. A couple of other small items, but overall not as much progress as I would have liked. I do have most of the new parts on hand. Still awaiting the H&R lowering springs to arrive from Canada.

Just a bit of work today. Slower than I would have liked, but ran into a few snags. First one was a striped transmission fill plug. Was able to get it out with a little persuasion and a chisel. Second was the nice valve cover bolts that were rusted and deteriorating. Had to use a 7mm socket. Pounded that on and was able to get them all out. Ordered a new set along with a new transmission drain plug and fill plug. Cravenspeed CAI on. Partially mounted the new seats which was a total PITA. Needed to do some fab work to get the seatbelt latching mechanism to fit. New radiator overflow bottle mounted. Overall not a total waste of a day.

Not too much to report but did get the new valve cover gasket on. Removed some badges and tightened down the new air scoop that needed to be replaced. Spent most of the day working on the race car.

Ordered some Raceland Coilovers which should be in early this coming week. Still deciding on whether or not to order a new set of wheels and tires. Maybe I'll decide this week.

Is that a DB5 with Jongbloed’s?

Also, what did you do to that supercharger horn to get it looking so good?

DB2 with Jongbloeds. Different wheels on the below pic.

I found this amazing product when I did a restoration on BMW R/90 awhile back. RubNBuff.

I was rolling right along until I went to the drivers side and snapped the bolt in the knuckle. Dang it. Need to drill it out. Sway bar arrived and I'll see if I can get to that with my limited time this weekend.

Almost road worthy again. I didn't have help to bleed the brakes so I have to wait until tomorrow.
