R50/53 Crank scraper and windage tray
I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.
I was surprised to discover these cars that are designed for performance and tight handling through the curves don't have factory oil baffles/windage trays. I personally, think that's crazy.
I've been looking for a windage tray for my R53 for the last 2 years. Nothing really appealed to me with respect to design.
I guess I'm used to/expected the design to reflect the factory, louvered, baffle/tray like I had in my previous Porsche motors
It'll be interesting to read what others have to say.

I read other threads that talked about windage trays, never noticed anything on crank scrapers. Was hoping the different ones had been tried. I would love feedback from people who installed them. I see one out there that's a screen style. I guess that's fine, but not optimal IMHO. The Sneed one seems a little restrictive, but without feedback I dunno...
I didn't care for the Sneed either. For the same reason you mentioned.
Although, I admit, I don't have a degree in engineering.
i.e: oil pan leaks (?)
The reason I ask; is that I came across a windage design(s) that installs, sandwiched between the oil pan an block. Just struck me as oil leaks would most likely occur.

I don't know how I missed this thread: Windage Tray?
Definitely an intriguing, controversial and enjoyable read (for me)...

I read that thread. It left more things open ended than answered. I think at this point I'll just skip the issue. I recognize that there is very little to be gained employing windage trays and crank scrapers. I'm just a sucker for those little tweaks. I don't see much mentioned about knife edging, bull nosing and ion-nitriding cranks. But I know those little things help along with crank scrapers and trays. I do however recognize that I'm not going to push the limits of this little motor. A couple of potential hp is definitely not worth over 500.00 for the scraper/screen tray combo I've been able to find. Any other input would be great.
