About Getrags (doing a swap)

After months of wondering 'when' my R50's Midland has given out and forced me (gladly) into 6 speed Getrag territory.
Thanks to this community I have a list ready of the parts needed to make this happen pretty smoothly so I am on my way.

My primary use for this car is daily spirited driving

I understand there's two versions of the Getrag, with different gearing on the latter version, What Mini Cooper models have the 'refreshed' version of the Getrag?
Do accessories like LSD and Short Shifters fit the same on both versions of the 6-Speed?
How different is the experience really between the two 6 speeds, I Understand the later one has more enjoyable gearing (the W10 already has limited power dont wanna lose the feel of any)

Appreciate you in advanced, I've ordered a 2003 6 Speed with 77k, but if it makes a real difference I can still change the order to a 2006 model transmission
While I figure that out I want to order the accessory parts like Short Shifter, LSD and shift boot. Want to make sure everything will line up the first time so I dont have to double back. Thanks again

I have an early 6 speed in mine and i find it fine, although I have never tried the later.
Short shifters I think depend on which gearstick box thingy you have. Mine was black and I could not find any short shift kit to fit, the other is white and there are some available.
If its a second hand box, may be worth doing the 3 seals on it and the crank seal behind the flywheel.

I believe the split was mid 2004. I have an 06 and my son has a 2004.

You can look up the difference In gearing but I think the final drives are real close. I find the difference that the mid gears in the early are longer. Also seems more natural. My 06 seems like 3-4-5 are not as far apart as my son’s 2004.

Here is a link of the ratios.

there's a sticker on the transmission the last 3 letters tell you if it's pre or post facelift or if it is post facelift with a LSD

Thank you, yes will def make sure to replace the seals

Lot of great info, thank you. I learned there is a 05-06 Getrag that has an LSD as standard so I will be looking for that specifically to avoid spending an extra 1k on a separate LSD and getting it put in.

Yes, either the dmf or a solid conversion
