Detroit axle front hub/wheel bearing.

I'm pretty sure that the front, passenger side wheel bearing on my MINI is on its way out. Has anyone used the Detroit Axle hub/bearing assemblies?

Thanks in advance.

Use FCP EURO for your replacement parts. Lifetime warranty on everything and quality products and you can void the warranty in any way except by selling the car

I have used their stuff on a couple of different vehicles I own and just put wheel bearings all the way around on my R50. Never had an issue with their products.

+1 on ChiefM's comment. I have Detroit Axle hubs/bearings on all four corners of my 2004 and they've never given me any problems in over two years.

Ditto, while the hubs have only been in a few months, no issues and fitment was perfect.

Very disappointed

I had good luck on the 2004, last year. My 2003 R53....... Not so much. I got an astounding 63 miles today before both front hubs started to wobble. I had to have the thing towed home. I bought them from the giant online place with distribution centers in everybody's neighborhood. I requested a return. I will give them one more try and then it is MINI genuine hubs.

I am getting soooooo tired of junk. Well it is even worse than that I have been getting counterfeit parts too. Bought a heater blower motors for my MINI and it had a Valeo sticker placed over a TYC label. Fan cage was white not black and it had Philips screw holding the case together rather than torx heads. It went back and I have have now been waiting 4 months for a Valeo brand motor from a trusted vender. More than a few on my land Rover have been counterfeit. You can't even trust the dealer supply chain. Our Cars have NGK as original sparkplugs. NGK has a whole section on their website dedicated to identifying fake plugs. It is THAT bad.

I digress, I will give the Detroit Axle hubs one more try, but if there is an issue before I ship the car to VT in June for MMTS, I will go with genuine parts.

I know what you mean about counterfeit parts. I wrote thread on fake NGK/BMW spark plugs.

R50/R53 "Fake" NGK Spark Plugs. - North American Motoring

I'm going to give the Detroit Axle bearings a try and see what happens.

Wow, I really should stay indoors and read this forum more! Good bit of info there. I followed the link. I did not realize it was THAT bad.

Thanks

Looks like I look elsewhere

I got an email from Detroit Axle asking about my return through Amazon. I then called them to explained that the fronts started to wobble very badly and the car became dangerous to drive after only 60 miles. I spent over $250 to have it towed home. After they walked though a very detailed process to confirm it was the right part for the car, they wanted a statement from a certified mechanic as to what type of failure the bearing had. I told them, I was a mechanic and installed them myself and that I was giving them a statement of the problem on the phone right now. They wanted a shop to inspect them and report what they found.

I then politely thank them for your interest in my return, and said never mind, as I no longer interested in a replacement from them. I told them I would cancel the return order and thanked them for their time. I will chalk this up to an other expensive lesson about modern supply chain corruption and the lack of quality automotive parts.

I am glad they are working out for you guys ( they worked out for me before, that is why I bought them a second time) and hope the rears hold up.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Jeff

Sorry to hear about your issues.
I put all 4 new ones on my R50 a few months ago and they are great. I just put 2 on the front of my Escalade. I have never had an issue with the quality of their parts.

I agree, that is why I went with them again. BUT any time you make a warranty claim, the first response from the vendor should be: "OK, send it in and we will get a replacement out to you".

As far as I am concerned, the matter is closed, I have moved on.

Thanks for the replay.
