That bright green paint color (oops, "colour") made it easy to spot as NAM forum member @Tweedbean's former R53. This video covers the front-mounted IC in The Engine Bay chapter starting at 6:49 mins...
No external fins on my water-to-air IC but then, coolant lines (shared with engine system) complicates servicing, i.e., necessitates removal of the IC for access to valve cover, injectors, etc. Image illustrates with others in my (sig) thread topic.
I have just oversized ic but built all around it , head , cam , intake , sprintex sc pushed to 21psi lolol and my iats stay within 20' of ambient temperatures and actually with my ic sprayer setup they only get colder the longer I go wot. I wonder if running kavs setup with a little more modding to be able to add ice , I wonder how much better my iat would be..
with that water to air ic what are your iats like ?
here's my engine Pic

^^^ If you're referring to my MiniMotors IC, no clue on intercooler air temps (iats?). If you've followed my thread, all mods were installed early 2006 with parts sourced from UK and Germany sources. That technology and thinking is now relatively dated, with perhaps just as good if not better "street performance" from (some) air ICs. I have no factual data and actually, little to no data found on the IC installed on mine back then other than likely being spendy at that time...
Hi yes thats my car, its the Airtec front mount setup. A lot of cutting of the car to get these to fit, so not for everyone. I still own the car, its in bits but may get resurrected at some point. GRS also do a front mount intercooler with less pipework which may be a nicer solution
