The one in the bottom left of the photo connects to the occupancy mat. It doesn't really "control" the light and chime though. Is that black box an emulator?
Hmm. I think maybe I failed to understand the question. If you mean the passenger seat belt contact, that's the connector with brown/black and blue/violet/yellow wires according to my wiring diagram. So I guess maybe the black connector?

Thank you sir, I believe you are correct. I bought a SRSdrive dongle when the mat sensor broke before the recall. Now the mat is on its way out again so I am reconnecting the emulator, I just forgot which connector for the resistor to fool the seatbelt. The middle black connector is the seat belt sensor.
So the recall replacement mat went bad? How long has it been and how many miles? I think all new MINI parts have a two year warranty so it might be covered.

It's been at least 4 to 5 years since the mat was replaced under warranty, when the service bulletin came out in 2015. In any case the srsdrive dongle works just fine since it preserves the passenger airbag function and I will never have a child under 50lbs in the front seat.
