I’m Back Baby!

Just picked up a 38k mile 2005 S with JCW goodies installed. Working on transport home for it now.

I posted another thread with a link but it didn’t go through (can we post BaT links?)

More to come when it gets here… I probably paid a little too much but I don’t care! I’ve been after a worthy replacement for my GP since I sold it. This may be better in fact, I always worried about driving or modding the GP for fear of killing it’s value.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know, is BaT shipping super expensive? I've never shipped a car, but BaT is convenient. I know they just arrange and there must be some upcharge. I am willing to pay for convenience, just not too much.

Congrats on scoring that nice R53, which several of us here were watching live with interest. Happy for the seller that some unknown incorrect details didn't seem to taint the final results and that you were the auction winner. Please keep us posted on future plans when you get it home.

Lol, to be honest I was hoping it would put off a few buyers, but after speaking with the seller I am glad it went the way it did. Real nice guy who was disappointed it wasn't a "real" JCW. It is plenty real enough for me - it has the mods I'd likely have done.

My biggest issue right now is that it won't be here for 3-4 weeks. I guess there aren't a lot of deliveries between Utah and Florida.

Too bad you couldn't have flew to Utah and drove it back. It's always memorable trip for me when I pick them up.

When I bought my C5Z, I drove it from Florida to CA. The seller was shocked that I was about to put more miles on the car in my first week than he had in his 3 years of ownership!

Don’t ya just love seeing your new purchase getting loaded up, almost as good as seeing get unloaded. Yeah I think the few hiccups kept the price down for you, could’ve crept closer to $20k without them. Absolutely beautiful car.

Make sure you look over the hood roof windshield for fluid from above, the old Civic above you. Could’ve requested top load if possible.

I didn't even know asking for top load was a thing! I will next time though.

Well, to be honest, I hit my max - one more bid I probably would have had to quit. I had planned on stopping at $14000± but I really wanted it.

No problem with the miles, but the flatland once out of Utah would have killed me.

Congrats! Glad to see it go to someone on here, and happy for seller to see it not be held back for the discrepancies. This is a sweet car that you can mod and DRIVE!

I tuned out of the auction and missex the flurry at the end.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

I probably shouldn't admit this... new Mini has the gauge pack. It has an oil pressure gauge. It sat near 50 when I started it the first time and I freaked.

Oil level is fine, no tapping sounds or anything to indicate an oiling issue.

Pressure went up as the car warmed up - very strange...

Turns out it is an oil temp gauge in °celsius.

******* me...
