P0340 with DSC

I know that this is not the first thread about P0340 with DSC but I've read all of them but have not been able to resolve my issue, yet.
2005 R53, 149K miles with 15% pulley and CAI. Recent complete valve job 5K ago. The car has been running great with zero codes until a few weeks ago when my emissions were due at the end of May, it figures.
About three weeks ago I started getting DSC and P0340 simultaneously. Replaced the Camshaft Position Sensor with BMW branded sensor. Code and DSC came right back. I dug into the problem and resolutions on various forums and then I replaced the Crankshaft Position Sensor, new Iridium plugs, NGK SP wires and a new coil. Code and DSC came right back. Note that even with the codes the engine is running flawlessly.
The DSC codes are 5E1F, 5E16 and 5E19. I am a capable weekend mechanic and welcome all help and suggestions. I'm confused by the P0340 and DSC codes coming simultaneously? Am I overlooking something?

The DSC codes indicate an internal fault in the module.
When modules crap out they sometimes cause interference on the CAN bus. When this happens it can cause other modules on the bus to pitch a fit. I would not be surprised if the faulty DSC module is causing the cam error. I've seen stranger things happen when the CAN bus gets funky.
You can verify a clean CAN with an oscilloscope, but most weekend warriors don't have one. Better to just get your DSC woes ironed out and go from there.

Is it possible that an actual DSC error caused by a speed sensor could cause other false fault codes? It hit me that I replaced my right CV axle just before this issue began and I'm wondering if I could have stretched/damaged the speed sensor wiring during the process of replacing the CV joint. When you say "better to get my DSC woes ironed out" does that suggest replacing the DSC module?

Thanks for the reply mrbean!

If you have a good scan tool you can monitor the output from the wheel speed sensors while driving. This can rule out a faulty sensor.
I suspect the module is toast and the timing is coincidental.

mrbean,

We're talking the DSC ABS Control Module or the BCM module? Your answer above indicates it's the DSC Control Module but please confirm. Would you recommend buying a used module from ebay? Or is there elsewhere in the Mini community that's a good go-to?
Thanks!

DSC ABS Control Module.
It's been years since I've done it but there's is/was companies out there that will repair the module at a reasonable price.
Used is also a good option (I did that when my airbag module crapped out) but it will likely require re-coding after you install it.

Resolved

It was the camshaft position sensor after all. I was still getting the P0340 after replacing the camshaft and crankshaft position sensors, testing the wiring and resetting the system over and over so before going down the rabbit hole and replacing the DSC control module I decided to try another camshaft position sensor for the heck of it. I ordered an NTK OEM from Rockauto for $62 including shipping and lo and behold the P0340 was gone. So the first BMW labelled camshaft position sensor was defective right out of the box.
Also, as strange as it sounds the DSC codes cleared after replacing the camshaft position sensor with a good one so apparently the Camshaft sensor was the culprit interfering with the DSC module codes.

Thank you for posting your resolution! All too often on forums, I stumble across a thread with symptoms exactly like something I'm dealing with, only to have it abruptly end without any idea what the eventual fix was.
