250 hp for $7,500

I just moved to Portland and contacted the local mini specialist performance shop, when asking how much for a big boost to horsepower on my 2005 Mini Cooper S, I was told it would cost roughly $7,500 to get up to 250 hp, they refused to comment regarding 0-60 performance noting there are two many variables to even give a rough number..

What do you guys think?

To quote an old track driver: "If you can't go fast with 90 horsepower, 900 won't help you."

Is that for total parts and labor? and what engine mods are you getting for $7500?

Maybe. . .

$7500 may be a reasonable price for a competitive Totally Bulletproof 250HP 1.6L engine that will spin to 8000 RPM repeatedly. This RMW one (a sponser of NAM) includes a ported big-valve RMW head, custom forged Mahle pistons and forged connecting rods along with the right cam for that price. You will also need a header and a tune. https://store-revolutionmini-com.3dc...ine_p_114.html
If your local Mini guy is offering anything less, then he is charging too much!

RMW complete motors and components are successfully used for roadracing, autocross, and of course street. I have a 1.8L stroker version of this engine in my daily driver, and I love it!
(I have found RMW good to work with, but there is often a backlog of orders, so he doesn't have a lot of time for casual chat.)

How fast 0-60 does a 250 hp mini usually go and can you keep up with a Mustang/WRX etc?
