Does anybody knows how far could you go boosting up a brand new cooper S?!
To my knowledge very few specific parts are available for performance. Do you guys know if somebody is developping some chips, exhausts, air filters, pulleys or anything else.

I know Moss Motors is developing performance parts for MINIs, although the site isn't up yet. However, you can order a magazine from Moss, which should have plenty of engine, lighting, and cosmetic mods. http://www.mossmini.com

I heard from a reliable source that if you can find the limiter chip your MINI S can reach 155 mph, also the roots charger can also be modified to push more boost, which can give you around 15-20 more horse power making the 0-60 times in the high 5's to low 6's. On the flip side of this you risk wearing the car out, but hey its only money right?

Can't tell you to much detail now but we are curently working on a SC upgrade. We have a person who has over 30 years of SC experience working with us right now. He has intimate knowledge of the Eaton SC on the MINI. Our goal is to give everyone a healthy, RELIABLE increase in HP for the S. So far the results ar promising. Should have more info for everyone soon.

How about a smaller diameter SC pulley (for the S obviously)? That seems like a cheap and dirty upgrade, anyone ever try this on any other cars? Or know if it's safe? All it does is make the SC spin faster producing more boost. Of course more boost equals higher intake charge temps and higher compression, making detonation more likely. I ran my A4 (9.5-1 compression) to 12psi (.8 bar) without problems, and others do 14.5psi(1 bar) without issues, but that is with a turbocharged engine that is mostly running in vacuum, a supercharged engine ALWAYS runs under boost.

How much boost does the Roots blower provide anyway?

eMKay,
The Blower on the MINI S is running at .8 bar. or 12psi.
There has been some talk about the smaller pulley (which you may find by doing a search in the forums area) but there is some concern as to how the computer will react.
There are several companies out there that are working on mods for this. I'm sure we will be seeing some very cool stuff on this front in the near future.

.8 bar huh? Thanks for the info, that's a fair amount of boost. But the compression is quite low at 8.3. I wonder if some additional chip tuning would be required if a smaller pully is used.

The low compression ratio makes it nice and easy to tune a supercharged car, the higher the compression the more fuel tuneing required to avoid ruining your engine with a bad AF mixture. I have not learned enough to know how well this engine will handle more boost, or how much fuel system modification is required to compensate for more boost. Could just be an ECU update, could mean fuel pump, larger injectors, map or Mas air sensor upgrade. It could be swap the pulley and go.

I am curious how much the JCW modified engine is boosting to get to 200bhp.

Dinan is developing a chip and cold air induction. Estimate given to me by the salesperson at mini of Towson was 8-10HP for the chip 25-30 chip w/cold air induction. ( I make no claims to the accuracy of those figures and Dinan has not given the dealer any dyno results)
