Parts source for Midlands 5 speed?

2004 R50 Chili Red, the clown that did the clutch job about 18 months ago left out some parts: Missing flywheel cover, some missing bolts, other misc. stuff.

Whatever shop did it is on the other side of the state, when it was with the previous owner.

Any suggests as to where I can find some of this odd ball stuff?

The part I need help with is the cover plate. If you have the Bentley manual, please look on page 230-15 and it’s the middle picture. I’ve added a photo of where it would have been on our transmission.

Pelican Parts and Mini Mania carry some of it, but not all.

Thanks,
Dan

Missing cover should have been here, need the bolts too.

For what it’s worth, the Midlands 5 speed still has pretty good parts availability through the dealerships.

Big shout out to Northwest Mini in Tacoma, WA!

I found the cover and a bunch of bolts at prices the same as other vendors.

I bought the Midlands overhaul kit from MiniMania but there are a few parts that are still needed, such as 2 locknuts, a few roll pins, a small seal here and there.

While at a salvage yard, the lady behind the counter told me that Mini Coopers don’t usually wind up there. She suggested looking on Facebook Marketplace or Offerup. Lots of owners part out the cars themselves.

Some of the midlands parts you can still get new.

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...i-Cooper&mg=23

Then just drop the part numbers into our site.

Looks like I need to replace the input shaft. Three teeth are half ground away on the smallest gear.

Doesn’t seem to be available. Anyone have a Midlands 5 speed that destroyed the differential?

Had a hard time getting the clutch arm separated from the shaft, so I could replace the two bushings for the shaft.

ECS Tuning has replacement pins.

I drilled out the original pin, without hurting the arm or the shaft. Started with a small bit and worked my way up until there wasn’t a lot left of the pin. Then I was able to drive it out.

Trying to drive it out before drilling it mushroomed the end of the pin.

Hope this helps someone in the future.

Looks like the original input shaft is going back in. The only replacement I can find is $2875, not counting the $1400 core charge. OUCH...
