Help identify these parts?

Here are some attached pictures of two parts that I can't identify, they're off of a 2003 MINI S. The black one is a soft rubber and the metal piece has primer on one side and color coat (silver) on the other with remnants of hardened foam insulation on it. the metal one looks like something bolted through it as it has holes and a paint shadow of something rectangular. I am doing a rebuild on a MINI and don't want to leave these parts out, but I've read the manual front to back and can't find these listed. I've also read the online parts lists available and can't see anything that looks like these either. Any help would be greatly appreciated, even as to what general area these are in the care. Thanks

Dont you recall where they came from? Why would you even need to rebuild a car that is only 4 years old?

I'm guessing that the OP bought a wrecked MINI and whoever had it before did some disassembly prior to sale?
Are there any part numbers on the parts in question?
Also, very hard to get any idea of the size of the parts, as there is nothing to show scale.

well, I am the wife, and I did buy a salvage MINI that somebody had taken apart, so I get to start up where they left off. The metal piece is 10" x 8" roughly and the rubber piece is is about 5" x 6". the black rubber piece has one end of it oval and the other end is a modified square with one "corner" rounded??? thanks for any help...

To be perfectly honest, I have never seen those parts in my life. Does the rubber thing go around a fog light to keep water out?

And for the metal part, that might be a piece that attaches a heat shield under the bonnet.

The rubber thing may be some sort of undercarriage bushing or something. The metal piece looks like some sort of frame piece. Beyond that I just don't have a clue.

I just added some better pics of the black rubber part next to a pencil for size ID. I agree the metal part may be frame as it is painted in both primer and color coat - but where??

A wife that is rebuilding her own car? Do you give lessons? LOL
A slow thumb through the Bentley manual might help or better yet, PM someone who has done several total disassemblies for racing such as Waylon (WayMotorWorks) and get their opinion. Most of the race car builders can tell you every part that is on the car since they literally have been known to trim out unused wires in harnesses to lose wt in the car!

Good luck on your adventure and kudos on pinging back at the instant whiners here!

I wouldn't worry about it.

Just put the car back together and if you find something missing, then you will know where these parts go.

Waylon is a vendor here, WayMotorWorks. Also try posting down in the Racing section. Keep us posted on your progress, lots of photos!

Not much help but looks like it could be an air duct from within the dash. I don't have my book handy but I will try to look it up too. Good luck
