Oil cooler on modded daily driver ?

would running a auxilaray oil cooler on my car with all its bolt ons be ok ? Or would I run into issues with my oil not getting hot enough? What are ideal oil Temps I guess ? I can keep an eye on them with my guage and see how they're doing. I just seen a nice kit for it. There a 9 row cooler and a larger 19 row cooler that I could even install a cooling fan on then..
I live in se wisconsin so it doesnt see super high temps , 100 at max but usually 70-85 degrees usually
what are your guys thoughts ? Scca is starting N I wanna try it out !
I have a 17% pulley , tune and pretty much all other bolt ons.

Running too high oil temps for extended period of time will degrade the quality of the oil. Good oil is perfectly fine with running 120 degrees Celsius for short periods of time. Running above 120-130 Celsius for longer periods of time will cause oil to degrade.

Also will you be doing an oil cooler with thermostat or?

You wont need it. Run Some amsoil and call it a day for what you do. Euro blend. High zddp package.

I have an oil cooler setup in my mini. I like the fact that it keeps the oil temps normal longer and it also provides almost another quart of oil capacity.

In our area if you did get like a setrab setup I would run a thermostat with it. Espeically if your diriving in the winter.

The Amsoil stuff is about 10-12 bucks a quart but you can run it longer on your setup for the street. I still drop mine every 2k but I am running e85 and a whole bunch of other stuff and drive it like I stole it.

You'll be better off putting a windage tray between the crankshaft and the oil sump.
It'll help keep the oil temp. down, help keep the power up..!

Oil around the crankshaft is a bad thing. It creates drag, wips the oil into bubbles, and helps heat it. Hard acceleration and hard corning will force the oil up...into the spinning crankshaft.

I'm surprised that there is only one tray available to Mini owners. I'll be building one for myself in the next month or two.
It's nothing new, been proven over and over, any years ago.

Mike
