How do I remove gas pedal 2003 R53

I need to remove the gas pedal but can't seem to figure it out. All the information online says there should be an allen or torx screw in the front but my pedal don't have that. Did the early model R53 have a different pedal? Any help would be awesome! Thanks.

disconnect the socket first. then
pull from the top straight towards to you. then slide left towards the brake pedal.

Don't do that, you will break it!!!

Push down on the tab circled in blue...on the brake side of the pedal... and pull the assembly towards the brake pedal. Be careful pushing down on the tab and likely you will break it no mater what you do..they become very brittle with age. You will find the tab in the slot circled in red.

2004 R53 Gas pedal Assy. Replace

R53. 2004 S ..... I have a friend in the wrecking yard business who handed me a nice LIKE NEW gas pedal assy. Only issue is the plug is not right. Is this something I can safely rewire? I have the pigtail from the newer pedal assy....it has different things/tabs keeping it from plugging right in. It's apparent it's from a newer Mini.....can I splice or is that asking for trouble? TIA

Spoiler

You don't need to splice/cut anything. You can easily repin the new connector to the existing wiring harness (it's not that hard). Maybe ask your friend if he has another pigtail from another Mini (any model) and try taking it apart before you do it on the new one he gave you. Pull the wires out of your pigtail, depin the wiring harness in the car and insert the car wiring into the new connector and there you have a factory connection. If your stuck, let me know I can pull one off an R56 I have kicking around and I can post some pics.

oh good to know....TYVM. I'll get my head down there tomorrow and "RE_PIN" it.....pretty sure I know what you're saying. No splicing is good! Post back later.

Yep, also if you have crud down there its a good time to clean out dirt around the mount and carpet, thats what i did when i swapped mine out for the stainless pedal upgrade.
