What is this tubing??

I'm putting a 2005 Cooper S back together after a head gasket/ valve job and it appears a plastic tubing that comes out from the firewall is broken. It looks like it connects to a valve on the passenger side front that has a hose going into the throttle body. Can anyone tell me what this is and where it goes? I appreciate any help I can get... Thanks!!

Thanks for the quick reply. That thread was very helpful. I’m trying to figure out where that line attaches and also the one in the top of the circle that looks like it has a small tube in it, like the tube broke off somewhere. Thanks again for the help!

Here’s another pic of the tubing I’m asking about.

This is the line I’m asking about. It starts near the firewall and ends near that other line, which I also can’t figure where it goes!! I don’t see a place on that valve to put it! 😳

Okay. After some more research on this site I figured it out. It’s part of the fuel system purge and those lines connect to each other. I kinda thought so but memory lapses as you get older! 😂. Now I just need to figure out the piece that connects them together. Thanks again for the help!

I would expect a evap code would be generated. Was this the case?

Not sure if a code was generated. My daughter was driving and a heater hose tee broke and drained the coolant. No compression so I had the head rebuilt and surfaced. Found the tubing when putting it back together. I thought they connected together and realized the fitting that connects them was broken. So I just need to find that fitting to reconnect them. Thanks for the help.
