Good news for all of you MCS buyers! I talked to ASK MINI today (yes I know, I broke my "one a week" rule). Anyway, I called under the guise of getting information about an interesting picture I saw yesterday. Apparently on the new MCS' that are being built now, you get a new type of steeing wheel (looks a little fatter with "grips" @ the 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions). In addition, metal food pedals with rubber inserts.

I called to see which cars got them and which did not, and was told these new components were for the MCS only.

Also, apparently, the long awaited MP3 connection cable is currently being tested and should be out "shortly".

Oh, and while I was at it, I checked my status, still 150 (curses!).

>>MissouriMini yes I am quite familiar with Brooks. The entire Telecom biz is definitely in a major shakeout. A friend of mine was one of the original guys who started Gabriel. He is involved with some other telecom startup, but I have lost touch. He was/is from St. Louis. I might be able to put you in contact with him if you would like. I don't think he is a techie guy though, I think he is much more a marketing/sales guy.

xpcdoojk,
I may know your friend. Let me give you my email address (www.david.nissen@geo-usa.com) so that we are not using this thread inappropriately re my work situation. I would like to talk to your friend. I am not a techie nor a sales guy. I am more a business/contracts/regulatory/legal/franchise/network planning/rights of way kind of guy. As an example, I negotiate/obtain cable entrance rights to access multi-tenant office buildings. I have negotiated franchise rights with major cities coast to coast and in Canada. Anyway, enough work talk, back to MINI TALK and (I hope) justified expectation of geting my MCS in March!

I can talk, what should we talk about. Ooh how about the feature we are most looking forward to. I am really looking forward to the sunroof, I've never had a car that had one, and this sunroof is HUGE!!! Speaking of which, why do some people call it a "moonroof?" I would think that if you were driving at night, the last thing on your mind would be to watch the moon.

You Can add me to the list. I have a 2/14 estimated build date for lucy and her current status is on order. She is an electric blue cooper S with all 3 packages, HK sterio, Nav system, driving lights, and a roof rack. I'm starting to get jittery?

Welcome GaleWyrick! Glad to have you on board!

I'm still considering the driving lights and roof rack. I want to get what I want at the outset so I don't have to go back in and add it later, but yet, everything I add will delay picking it just that much longer!

Again, welcome!

Bill

MiniZee--

Good topic! What are "Marchers" looking forward to as options? I'm with you. As much as I love all of the options I chose, I think the moonroof/glass roof will be my favorite. My last car was an older BMW convertible, and I love the wind through the hair, but like the idea of a real "four seasons" car with a usable boot.

The most useful option for me will be my heated seats...I've got a bad back, and the heat is nice during a long ride...

How about the rest of you folks? Bill, JC, MissouriMini, etc.? Any faves?

And Gale...welcome! Beautiful car!

I just want to sit in it, and smell it. Then I want to drive it with the windows and sunroof open. I want to shift gears while entering corners then hitting the gas halfway thru the corner and exit the corner faster than I entered it! I want to take it on a fun weekend drive thru the Arkansas scenic byways on a warm spring day. I already have a night at the Queen Wilhimena Lodge in April planned so that I can take the Talimena scenic highway into Oklahoma!

Actually, the only thing I am wanting to do to the MINI other than love it is to put a roof flag on it... with possible bonnet and boot flags of the checkered flag variety. I will probably do that next xmas... Tell the DW that is what I want for my xmas pressy!

I would love a Union Jack, Stars and Stripes or St. George, but I figure that is just asking some anarchist moron to take the key to their Yugo or VW microbus to its green paint because I have a car with imperialistic flags on it.

Man. I'm just yo-yo-ing all over the place! Haha.

I broke down and called ASK MINI again. I'm sick. At any rate, my order has moved BACK to 2/21 and is now at status 112.

MINIDean... that is just so wrong. I would be looking to kill someone!

How is that you are moving backwards and the rest of us are ahead of schedule? You must have some part that you have ordered on your MINI that the rest of us haven't. What is the item that MINI is in a backorder status on that you are getting this awful experience?

We need a complete listing of your bits and pieces!

Spill it out man!

Hmmmmm....most most awaited option....

Well I've had a sunroof in my cars for over 10 years, so it's not really an option, more of a must have...the double pain will be cool though.

I have heated seats now, super nice, but again, required so not a matter of "looking forward to it"....

The Parking Distance Control will be cool, I'll probably start backing into my garage all the time now, but it's not the #1 thing...

I've never had Xenons (or Xenon-type headlights), so that has a coolness factor...

Rally stripes, cool, but still not the overriding desire....

Geez, why am I buying this car?!!!!?!!!

I'm a simple man, I'm going from a 1999 Passat v6 to an MC. I had a Tiptronic transmission that I loved using the manual mode. But it just wasn't the same as being to work through the gears. That being said, my most awaited feature on my PW/B MC, will have to be the STICK SHIFT!!!! Yeah babee!! Like I said, a simple man.

I do still have 3 options that are dealer installed that I'm pining over: Rally Lights, Alarm, and Rack. Trying to decide on 1 or all increases my anticipation, but when I visualize my self driving on a winding road through a pine woods forest, I'm working the gears and hugging the curves....THAT'S what I'm looking forward to.

Bill

I'm glad to be back. I hate being lonely too! ).

So, in a nutshell, this is why I think my dates have been everywhere. I added EVERY option. Even if I don't need it. =-) I'm a gadget freak. I don't think any parts are on back order. Anthracite trim? Not likely. PDC? Maybe because not many people order it? Harman Kardon? I hope not...That's why I've waited so long. Let's just hope it's built sooner so I can have it shipped to me quicker!!!

Bill I just have to say, you rock for keeping us all up to date.

How about something else to talk about? Maybe that can be my "thing I do."

So here goes: Who will be the first person you will give a ride to, in your MINI? Lets make this fun and say, other than your husband/wife.

My first person would have to be my friend Dara. Whenever we get together, we always end up driving up Sheridan Road. Sheridan Road is a real cool, twisty, road with lots of NICE houses that goes through most of the north shore. I chose Dara because, I think It's almost like a tradition, when she got her car, we did sheridan road, so when I get mine we will too.

That would have to be my next door neighbor. She's almost more excited than I am about getting it!

My border collie Maddie gets the first ride. She'll have to deal with the fact that the back windows don't open. I'll deal with the usual nose smears on the glass, and maybe a bit of sand if we go to Muir Beach. Spring is around the corner!

Nobody.

But if I have to, the people where I work notice that I have MCO up all the time, hear about the statuses and delivery date EVERYDAY, see the models on my desk, etc. They will be the first.

And now for today's "Thing to Talk About."

How long do you think it will take to get home from the dealer, after picking your MINI up, for the first time?

My dealer is about 45 min. away, but I think I will try to find every scenic route there is. My best guess is about 1 and half hours.

Lets get some more people talking, come on!

I have already decided to take Hwy 42 from Cincinnati instead of I71 all the way to Louisville. This should take about 1.5 hours and all scenery. I already have the GPS and map items ready for the exploration and getting lost. I am looking forward to it.

OK -I'm in the March club, but have kept a pretty cool head about things -until last night when I checked my status and I was out of production and getting on the ship. SO now I'm trying to figure out how long is it really going to take for "the kid" to get here? ANy help is appreciated and I'm not sure how all this 120 or 118 status stuff quite works.

I could take Hwy 42 north instead of I71 as well, unfortunately may drive is only 12-15 miles and all stop and go traffic. I'll probably pick up 42 past my house and drive for a while, then work my way back taking various different side routes. Lots of hills and curves outside Cincinnati. Maybe I should move to the country.
