aux driving light switch questions

i have a nice set of driving lights mounted on my 05 mini and need to wire them.
i also have an OEM switch. i would like to be able to turn them on and off as needed

was hoping i could use OEM switch and direct wire to the lights with out going through the cars computer, but not sure how io if this can be done with the OEM switch.

anyone tried this? do u know what voltage the switch is? will it internally turn on and off? if do use through computer can they be programed to come on other than with the hi beams?

thanks

Programmed no. They would trigger the relay when voltage is sent by turning on hi beams.
I wired my separate from lights. Real easy. I just tapped into the back of the radio. Illumination for the light on switch. Ground an hot for power to relay. Then mounted relay under hood. One wire to trigger. This is the wire comming from the switch in car.. One to positive side of battery the other to ground. Then tied running light to relay. Work like a charm.

Does the switch require a 4 conductor connector? Does it have a "2" on it? If so it only works with the OE driving lights wiring harness, which is no longer available.

thanks so are you first saying the switch can be used with 12 volts?
and the it will turn on and off? by the action of it i thought it was a monetary switch that may trigger on and off a relay

do u know the pinout of the wires on the switch? mine has four wires
also are you saying it is back lit and has the on off light too

also i have the switch extensions ire that is still available
it plugs into the switch and to the oem harness
the extension allows you to move the switch from driver knee bolster to the center console

i was going to use this to connect to the switch and cut other end off to make rest of connections

I just recently bought the oem kit and did not come with the switch but instead the BCM has to b programmed to turn them on with the high beams. My other ‘05 came with the lights and does have the switch which I like much better. I bought me me the oem switch for the new kit but can’t find the connector for it. If you get a connector for the switch you’re home free.

I thought the extender was NLA. Do you have a part number for this? Need one for my R53.
