Switch placement for the aux driving lights

Hey everyone! I have all the parts to install my aux. driving lights on my 2012 Countryman SX except for one... The switch... What I am wondering is if I have to go with the one that mounts below the steering wheel? I was looking everything over the other day, and I thought to myself why couldnt I just get one more fog light switch, and mount it in the center console right beside the existing fog light switch... There is already a dead spot there just begging for something to be installed!
What I want to know is what other people have done. Additionally, if anyone has accomplished what I want to do, how difficult was it?
