How many people claimed they gave up their big dollar - high performance cars to own a MINI.

I'm not being sarcastic. I gave up a dog of a high performance looking (99 Mitz 3000 GT) car for a MCS. It out performs what I had and I'm so happy.

I talked to a fellow MINI owner today (just got his a week ago) and he said he just sold his Porche 911. So far, he was very happy with his MCS.

Gave up 380hp with 450lbs torque for 163hp with 155lbs torque. But hey, at least I haven't got an excessive speeding ticket yet, which was very common with my SVT Lightning. I miss that wicked supercharger whine and the thrust that thing packed. But I'm still having a blast driving my MCS. Just not as good off the line though. :???:
What I REALLY miss is beating the Vettes. It usually pissed them off pretty good to have not only a pickup truck beat them, but being that it's a Ford truck. Mooo hooo ha ha haaaaa.
Cheers,

I gave up my Volvo 850R, well sort of, it is still in the garage. I will not be giving up my M3 cabrio however, I need the top down experience so until MINI comes out with a topless version, the MCS will always have a partner and competition in the garage!

I exchanged a 5 Series BMW (BMW means Break My Windows) for a MC and have not regretted the transaction at all.

Saab 9-3 turbo. Not real fast. Built well, but mundane. Viggen too much $$$ for what you get. MCS VERY hard to beat for smiles per $$$$.

I gave up my '91 Honda Accord. It highly performed as a piece of crap.

Just kidding......it wasn't that bad. Better than the Tempo that came before it.

I gave up...nothing.

I couldn't part with my 4Runner since I spend a good deal of time in the mountains, and I could never justify to myself any reason for owning two cars. Then the MINI comes along and presents itself as the perfect daily driver (and a hell of alot more fun to drive than a '97 4Runner) so I splurged.

Vette Kills:
-2 Stingrays. Those were hilarious 'cause both drivers thought they were the *****.
-1 ZR1 style. Don't think this guy thought it could be done. So I made sure he knew............twice.
-and 1 C5. Beat this guy by about half a foot. It was damn close.
Not sure what your brother has. But a '97 Vette (C5 style) only has 345hp with 350lbs torque. They weigh in around 3200lbs. That's not really half the weight. Half would be like having a Vette weigh 2300lbs. Then obviosly he has done mods to it. The truck weighed 4500lbs. It's mainly the torque number of 450lbs that makes the Lightning jump so quick. I was totally stock, performance wise, and pulling a 5.6 second 0-60 time regularily, and a 1/4 mile time of 13.7secs @101mph, without spare tire, jack, and hitch. Those newer Vettes from C5 onward, have really good top end power though. I give them that. I'd lose against a Z06, pending driver skills. But paying that price for a sports car, and then having a Ford TRUCK whoops its ****, is wayyyy too cool and funny. All those times I beat them, you had to scrape me off the ceiling because I was laughing, and celebrating that victory wayyyy tooo much. My hands would be shaking it was so intensely amusing. It was totally satisfying, and well worth the cost of the truck, after beating them. It should become a selling feature.
Cheers,
