I'm helping a buddy with a couple of things on his R53 Cooper S.
2005 with manual transmission.
While working we saw a huge tear in his inner CV boot on the passenger side. He's only keeping the car for 6 more months or so and we are thinking about dropping in a reman from O'Reilly for simplicity sake.
I see two options listed. 35mm or 40mm inboard seal diameter (axle seal?). Any idea how to tell which I have without pulling everything and measuring with calipers?
check a www.realoem.com site or a RockAuto site. When I replaced the passenger side axle in my 2004 R53 there was only one choice but I do not know what the seal diameter it was.
Well, things didn't go as planned. The bearing on the tripod hub somehow disassembled itself. I can't find a source for a replacement in the US unless I'm missing something.
Looks like we may be looking at the whole axle if I can't find anything.
Edit: No year listed for this, but I think it should work?
[QUOTE=doomi;4461581]Its passenger side inner CV. If you do have one I'd love to buy it from you.
I have the driver side only. Where are you located? There is a mini junk yard here in ft worth Texas. RPM mini parts. Might call them and see if they ship. If not I’ll get it for you and ship it. Way cheaper. I got my oem axle for around 55$

This is great info. I'll reach out to them tomorrow morning.
Here is a company in Fort Worth that rebuilds axles and rack and pinion. They have been around for years and are highly rated. I used them once years ago and they were very reasonable then and probably still. Might help you if you’re in FW or maybe you can ship to them.
While rockauto isn't OEM quality, they are good enough to last a few years at a minimum. For the cost and relative ease of putting one in I would just buy a new one from there, or actually thats what I did and I don't regret it. My two cents.
