Leak around passenger power steering rack boot? Inner Tie rod boot bent?

After buying the vehicle, I got it home and noticed from the top of the vehicle something that I have never seen before. The boot is sharply angled.

Is this normal?

I removed the front passenger wheel to investigate a leaking tire and a popping/rumbling sound that happens during the first minute of driving and then disappears and found the below pictured situation. There is a tarry type of fluid surrounding the boot. It has no distinct smell.

I took a picture of the situation.

Any idea what is going on here?

Thanks.

Looks like oil dripping onto it from above.

Hey, maybe.

Does the angle on that part of the rack from the boot back look normal though? That looks seriously bent.

Thanks.

Your CV axle boot looks torn. Could be grease slinging off of it. Tar like substance sounds like grease.

I was thinking about the cv boot being torn. I took a closer look and I am not so sure.....maybe it is. Maybe the noise I hear taking off is commensurate with that. Thanks.

Still wondering about the following:

Is the inner tie rod boot being so sharply angled normal?

Could someone open their hood and look down at their passenger inner tie rod boot? You can also see this by opening the hood and looking down. You don't have to take your wheel off.

Thanks,

Lol, I need a drink...and I don't even drink.

Guess it's time to clean up and see if your axle theory holds true or if there is oil above it. Thanks for taking a look.
