Seats are moving while driving??

I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this but on my 05 MCS the drivers seat has some give in it. When I accelerate it slightly moves back and then when braking it comes forward I initially thought it was a loose seat cushion but its the seat. I had the tech look at it and the mounting brackets are tight.....Has anyone else had this issue?

I am thinking of going aftermarket but really don't want to give up the airbag especially in the "Land of SUV's" aka CA

Rossii,

Are you basing the movement on feel, or on an annoying sound it's making, like it is creaking when you pull out and when you go to stop.

I had a sound that I thought was a loose seat that creaked on initial pull out, and when I applied the brakes. I thought it was the weight shift in the seat. I found the sound, but it was not the seat after all. If yours is this sound, I can tell you where I found mine.

If it's actually moving, I'm wasting your time.

Rossii,

I can top that... I have a brand new 05 MCS (it's only two weeks old with just over 100 miles on it) and it came from the factory with one of the passenger seat rear bolts striped completely out from the factory! I noticed that the bolt was sticking up when I sat in the back seat, and when I pulled up on the bolt, it came right out. The worst part of it all is that the factory tried to fix/hide the problem by sticking a helicoil in there (which obviously didn't work). There's nothing worse than getting a brand new car that's already tweaked straight from the factory!

And... To top that, my brand new car blew its general module (i.e. the body control module or BC1 I believe)! The car's been at the dealer for nearly as long as I've had it in my possession. This is my first MINI/BMW purchase and will probably be my last with poor build quality like that.

I got you topped......2 miles on my car.......HK amp was bad had to replaced.........around the same time I found out that my windsheild had been replaced at the VPC because it wasn't sealed properly. #2 winsheild went in at 48 miles........figured I will drive until the seat really gets annoying........overall this car is a BLAST to drive

by the way this is my 2nd Cooper S.......

In my case, the top of my seat moves approx 2 inches during brake / acceleration...

no sound just movement.......it feels like the seat height adjustment has some play....really un-nerving when accelerating out of a corner.

have a z3 that dose that on the right hand seat. It moves forward and backward slightly during accel and braking. And its a power adjustable seat. Must be a BMW thing

It's called a warranty claim... it is obviously not normal.

My 04 MCS does the same thing. The seat definitely feels like it moves slightly when accelerating and braking.

My 03 MCS does the same thing, and I was getting ready to ask about it.

Has anybody with this issue tried moving it manually, perhaps sitting in the back seat and see if you can move it back and forth? Without weight in the seat, maybe it will be easier to see where it may be loose. If it moves, the dealer needs to answer how to fix it for you all. Just a thought. Actually, I better try that myself.

Mine does this, too...(18.5K) seat cushion moves almost a half an inch going from acceleration
to braking, more noticeable on an incline...can't easily demonstrate it unless my weight is in the seat.
If it starts to get worse, I'll take it to the dealer.

I have an 05 S, had the problem from day 1, took it to MCM and they replaced the outside seat track. Something about the locking tab not engaging the track properly. No further problems.
