Another Roof Rack Thread.........But...

Ok, so, I've searched the forum and came across about a billion roof rack threads. I couldn't, however, find an answer to this question; what size windshield is the best fit? The Yakima site and all the Yakima dealer sites all suggest the 40". That seems wayyyy too long! If you're using a windshield with your roof rack, can you please post a photo along with the windshield size. I'm about to place an order and this little detail is the only thing holding me up. Thanks in advance

Nope. My online shopping cart is full, though. I just need to hit the "continue with purchase" button.

Gotcha. I don't have a windscreen, but I can give you a size reference. My bars are 47" and there's probably a total of 4" of overhang - 2" per side. Please give me a break on the front bar being offset slightly.

Looks like a 40" fairing would cover just about the entire front.

Thule aeroblade. Haven't noticed any wind noise, but can't open the sunroof all the way with how it's currently set up. I can only vent it.

The PO that I bought the rack from had his bike hanging off the side for ease of access. I set the rack on my Mini the conventional way.

Pretty sure mine is 44" from what I remember. I thought it was too big at first as well, but it seems to work fine. Does lower the gas mileage about 3-4mpg though

Thanks for the replies! I ordered mine and it should be in tomorrow. I went with Yakima with the 40" fairing. BoostinZX, if that's really 44", it doesn't look as huge as I thought it would.

What happened to your license plate? Did you hit something? Won't you get a ticket driving around like that? Nice rack.

Post up pics when you get it installed so we can see.

Sorry, i post the wrong pic. This is my old rack setup. The fairing size is 40" I believe. After I got the Yakima rack and install the same fairing on it.

You got it. I'm just waiting for the bike mount to come in (should be tomorrow) and I'll put up some photos.

How does the QTowers attach to the rain gutters? Did you have to remove the black moldings?
