Chrono Pack Gear Indicator in Automatic

I'm considering buying an out of state MCS with chrono pack. When flipping the paddles in a Steptronic, where does the gear indicator show up?

It should show up on in the speedometer display on the left side.

Thanks! I just drove an R52 without Chrono pack. I was shifting in steptronic and had to look at the center console--that wasn't the best.

In the chrono pack I would think the gear indicator would be better in the tach, but this is good enough.

Reviving an old thread.

I just installed chrono pack in a friends 06 Auto R53 and something is not right.

Is there a difference in an auto and manual chrono pack and or gauges?

I don’t have gear selection on the speedometer.
Can’t get DSC, EML and Circle lights to come on, even in light test.
Can’t get DSC to turn off manually.
Steering Angle Calibration works with my Foxwell but always goes to -1440 after key is turned off and back on.

Did you reprogram the Chrono pack for all of the options/equipment of your friends car after the install? What year did the Chrono pack come from?

I didn’t reprogram it as I only have a Foxwell. Does this done with INPA? My son has that.

The owner says he bought them from a fellow club member. The chrono pack is from 2006 and the gauges are from 04/2004.

Any directions for reprogramming the Kombi?

This thread should help with most of the programming, but I’m not sure if it has definite answers on correcting the mileage and VIN mismatch: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...hopefully.html

There were also different tach/speedo clusters... maybe pre and post face lift? Does his tach have the display with digital readout (later models have this), or the display with warning lights in it?

I have read that link that you sent.

My son is coming over with INPA and I think we just have to tell it to do automatic. I looked up the Kombi's and the center only has one part number and the gauges have two part numbers but that only determines if its chrome or anthocite.

The gauges that he gave me both have digital readouts and they match the ones in my 06. I'll report back after we try to recode it tomorrow.

Turns out one of the two components are bad. Couldn’t get it to connect to CAN bus for ABS and to accept the coding.

I’ll try the gauges on my car ti verify if they work.

Update. Gauges were bad and replaced. They were verified good on my 06.

Niw I can’t get the steering angle to stay calibrated. As soon as I turn the key off, it goes to -1440 and sets DSC and Low Tire lights.
